La Prometida Hotel — Hotel in Cahuita

La Prometida was our first hotel during our Costa Rica trip and it was a perfect start to a wonderful holiday.

La Prometida is a small boutique hotel which consists of only 5 villas, making it a very private and intimate place. When you come back after an exciting day discovering the Carribean cost, you almost feel like coming home. Due to the fact that there are only 5 villas, you get to know the other guests quite quickly, and we had really nice conversations.

The service at this hotel is really outstanding. Selva works at La Prometida and she is really amazing! When we came back to the hotel, she would always ask how our day was and made sure we always got enough water :) She also helped us booking a table at a restaurant for one of our next stops in La Fortuna for my birthday dinner, and before we left, she even organised a small birthday cake for me, even though she knew that my birthday is only one day later when we would have already left.

Francisco and Andrea, the owners of the place, live on the same property. They are both so lovely, have travelled the world and lived in different places, so talking to them is really exciting :) When we arrived, Francisco welcomed us and gave us a lot of helpful insights to Puerto Viejo and what you can do here.

Every morning, the staff will deliver fresh coffee (or tea if you prefer) to your door - we have stayed in a lot of 4 or 5 stars hotels and have never had such an amazing service! The breakfast is served at the pool and is so delicious !

The villas are really spacious, very modern and nicely decorated. It has an air conditioning which works perfect. I also loved the fact that the AC is not pointed directly to the bed, which is the case for most hotels and which really annoys me. We also really liked that the room is completely protected from any mosquitos.

Francisco and Andrea are also making sure that the villas and the hotel in general is always well maintained. This was the best level of quality in terms of the builings which we have seen during our Costa Rica trip!

La Prometida is only a short walk away from Playa Negra and a 5min drive to Puerto Viejo town. Also a lot of other attractions, like Cahuita National Park are close by.

The only very small downside is the number of sunbeds at the pool - it's only 4 sunbeds, so especially in the afternoons, the sunbeds get quickly occupied. Maybe there could be more sunbeds added to the garden area of the property.

This was an excellent stay and if you are still wondering which hotel you should book, stop searching and book the La Prometida! It definitely deserves the 5...

La prometida is the hotel to stay at while visiting Puerto Viejo. To say that my husband and I are obsessed is putting things mildly. We truly do not want to leave! The location is away from the hustle and bustle but so close you can walk to the restaurants and shops. The rooms are gorgeous and clean. They are decorated simply but with intention. The beds are on the firmer side but have comfy pillows. There are huge windows with black out curtains that lead out to a private patio. The shower and bathroom were spacious and to die for. The ceilings were high so the room felt large. There is AC, a safe, and stocked fridge in the room we were in. Parking was easy. We never had to worry about not being able to park. The pool was amazing and a great way to spend some time relaxing! Breakfast each morning was delicious and there was a variety. We were here enough days that I almost got to try everything. Coffee delivered to our room each morning was a great touch. Zelva, Andrea, and Francisco were such great hosts. It felt like we were staying with friends instead of strangers. I loved that the property was gated and adults only. We made some friends while staying here and felt at home. I would recommend this place to anyone. The grounds are beautiful and the foliage and planta are curated on a way to provide privacy but also add an element of decor....

This was easily the best hotel experience we have ever had. I realize that this review will probably sound like it was a paid ad (it's not), but we simply had the best stay. Within a day at the hotel, we were already planning a trip back. La Prometida is the perfect blend of boutique hotel (style, food, thoughtfulness) and a great AirBnB (a very personal experience with the hosts). Aside from the gorgeous style of the hotel and the pristine pool, we loved how intimate it was. You can tell that Andy and Fran have poured their hearts into their place and they were so excited to show it to us. They were also filled with knowledge about the area and were conversational with any/all guests. We had a great time joking around with them and hearing their story. Hospitality comes naturally to them and it shows in every aspect of the place.The breakfast (and morning coffee) are also fantastic touches. The hotel is just a few hundred feet from a beach and about a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk into Puerto Viejo. Just far enough from the bustle of town to feel the quiet but never inconvenient.
