I discovered Casa Ira Rosa on VRBO and decided it would be perfect for a 3 week sabbatical in Costa Rica alone. Secluded enough and just a short walk to town (4k) all down hill! Not to worry many taxis available to for the return. The cabin has everything you might need for an extended stay. Full kitchen, living spaces, good beds, new bathroom, laundry and great WIFI! You can’t ask for better hosts, attentive and close by, never intrusive, but always helpful. The best value with the right amenities within 3 hours from SJO and 5 mins to the entrance of the cloud forest. Not but not least, the hot banana bread on arrival!

I can't recommend this place enough. Beautiful, cosy, well-kept, clean. It feels immediately like home. They also have another little house: Casa Tubu, also fantastic. Ideally located in the fresh fresh air of the Monteverde Reserve. Best water and air in the...

Lovely little house full of light. Very friendly owner / manager. They also manage a beautiful and recently remodeled house next door (with a hot tub!). They can combine the two for a large family group. Awesome location, walkable to...
