I spent 4 months trying to find a good place in Manuel Antonio to go with my whole family. I searched a lot of hotels, prices, locations, reviews, etc. At the end, I decided to book the two bedroom house for 6 people at La Posada. It had been 2 years since I had seen my family, so I wanted everything to be great. Unfortunately, our room had a lot of issues. When we arrived the air conditioning was not working, so we had to wait like 40 mins for someone to come fix it. The fridge was disconnected and there was no ice. Usually, when someone is expecting a guest, they make sure that the room is up and running, so the guests can be comfortable. The description said that the two bedroom house had two sofa beds. However, they only had one, so they brought a mattress and my brother had to sleep on the floor. I asked to speak with the person in charge because we were having a lot of inconveniences and they said that I had to wait until the next day. I never spoke to the person in charge, so I couldn't get a discount or anything. It didn't stop there. At night, when it was time to sleep, we realized they didn't have extra blankets for the mattress and sofa couch, so my brothers had to sleep covered with towels. The next day, we tried to use the blender and it didn't work. The bathroom light got burned and the internet never worked properly. I was very upset for all the things that were wrong with this place. The place was actually very nice and honestly, it would have been perfect if everything had been ready for us. Something positive I have to say is that everyone there was very nice and they came to try to fix the issues right away, but I wish we hadn't had so many problems. Breakfast was good and the cleaning ladies did a great job. The location is perfect for someone that wants to be in walking distance at the beach and the national park. I still think that the price was very expensive for all the issues...
Read moreI guess you get what you pay for? And with La Posada, you’re paying for proximity to the park…. And unfortunately not much else. The hotel really needs to give their marketing a huge raise because the photos make it look amazing!
Pros: You cannot get closer to the park. Seriously you are right there next to it. Pet friendly! (But be careful with the roving monkeys, I was concerned the dog would get TOO curious) Friendly staff with helpful recommendations breakfast included. Not a lot of options but a nice base before heading to the park/beach.
Cons: As I mentioned, the photos are so misleading. The rooms were poorly lit, with paint peeling and wall corners crumbling. The smoke detector looked like it had been smashed with a hammer Parking is a mess… The hotel technically has two spots but they’re not easy to get in and out of and usually blocked by tourists and your buses. Would not recommend driving. The shower curtain was moldy and there was someone’s pre-used bar of soap in the shower. The shower drain had a gaping hole, which led to numerous bathroom buddies (including fully grown crabs….) No lamps in the room, just the one set of overhead lights. The only plugs we could find were behind the refrigerator that didn’t work Incredibly thin walls walls so you can hear all of your neighbors No backup generator for when the electricity (and AC!) go out Very sketchy payment system. We were told we were getting a special deal but then it ended up being the same price as the Airbnb rate. Annoying, fine, whatever. But when we went to pay, they were reallly pushy about preferring cash-only payments, which we were not...
Read moreThe location of La Posada Jungle hotel is unbeatable! We stayed here with our 3 yr old daughter and loved being able to walk to the beach, many restaurants and shops, and of course the park. The line into the park can be very long at times, so it was nice to be able to play with my daughter at the pool while my husband waited in line. Then when he got close to the entrance he'd text me and we'd go out to meet him. Much better than a 3 yr old waiting in a line for almost an hour. We stayed in a deluxe suite which was great for our 6 night stay. It had a fridge so we could save leftovers from dinner and reheat them in the microwave in the dining area to eat them for lunch the next day. It had a small table and chairs right outside the doors which was nice for coffee sits in the morning to watch animals. The included breakfast was great, different options and plenty of food. We saw many animals at the hotel, much closer than in the park. Overall we really enjoyed this hotel and would stay here again. Rony was always super helpful and friendly, with lots of tips and recommendations. Carlos Montero runs the private shuttle service and was also incredibly kind and accommodating. We are so thankful we decided to go with the private shuttle from SJO to the hotel because our flight ended up being 3 hrs delayed and Carlos waited there for us the whole time. Once we arrived he greeted us with a big smile and did not seem annoyed at all for our delay. We also used his shuttle for our return trip back to SJO and were able to coordinate a stop to do a tour with Kids Saving the...
