Kolenda — Hotel in Grad Korčula

The first time we came here we both ordered a ham and cheese panini breakfast menu (36 kn) which comes with orange juice and coffee. The panini was okay, but the OJ and coffee were really watered down. It was still early so we were the only customers and were served immediately. A couple sat next to us and tried to order croissants but they said they were sold out already (it wasn’t even 10am yet). We came back the next morning for the best breakfast meal deal in old town, and this time tried ordering the omelet and croissant. It wasn’t even 10am yet and again they said they were out of croissants. For such a small breakfast menu, you would think they would have more croissants. This time there were a few tables filled, but service was extremely terrible and slow. After trying to flag someone down to pay with no luck, I went inside to pay and found the 3 servers and owner just sitting around chit chatting while everyone outside was looking for them. Ate here at 10am after reading all the fantastic ratings of this restaurant. Could not have been more disappointed.

The waiter was both unattentive and seemed aloof. After taking our order, he came back missing our drinks & ended up serving us the wrong main course, which was an omelette with no ingredients other than the plain eggs themselves. Realizing this after a few bites, I alerted him and he came back 10 min later with the correct dish. After asking a second time for our coffee’s, he arrived 5 min later with an espresso and a cappuccino. The cappuccino was an espresso with a small dash of whipped cream. Perhaps that is how they are served here? Not typical in our experience. In the end, waiter also forgot to serve the waters we additionally had asked for.

Overall, food was over salted and we were just incredibly disappointed with the service. Would be willing to give the omelette...

Had a really nice meal last night at this casual inexpensive place in a small alley just outside the old town gate. It does pizza, sandwiches and pasta, so a great choice for families. There are many more up-scale restaurants inside the old town walls, but this one is a good option if you feel like a lighter, snack meal. We had a Chicken salad, macaroni salad with chicken, a toasted ham and cheese baguette, together with a bottle of very drinkable local white wine. Total cost was Kuna300 ($50).
