I found this relaxed B&B after extensively researching and crosschecking several sites because I was interested in getting everything I could for my family’s short stay in this absolutely awe-inducing national park.|We stayed here (luckily?) in July 2021 at the end of the Covid pandemic so the park appeared less crowded than expected because many tourists probably did not dare to travel overseas.|The park cab be entered by means of two entrances, these are crowded places with parking that will cost you 10 Kuna/ hr and you doubtless end up in waiting lines for everything and start your visit of the park in a queue.|Not many people know that Plitvice Selo, the area near P3, the docking place for the boat connecting upper and lower lakes also has a small entrance. There is no parking there and absolutely no facilities. It is primarily meant for people who service the park, but tickets to either entrance 1 or 2 are accepted.|B&B Lower Lakes Plitvice Selo is located 3 minutes from this entrance, after that it is a few minutes further to the boat, providing you with a perfect start of your itinerary for the park. You can start in the lesser visited Upper Lakes and just leisurely explore the whole park. The map says the larger walk takes 5-6 hours, but that is exaggerated. We saw everything we wanted to see at the upper lake area and walked back to where we had docked, took the small crossing by boat And took the bus to the Lower laker and explored everything by foot from there. There is a very steep stairway back uphill next to the big waterfall (with a sign saying “wrong way”) which allows you to return quickly to the entrance at which you started. Also the beautiful viewpoint 4, 5 and 6 are accessible from up there.|We decided however to walk back to the boat where we started the day, still a lovely walk. Walking in the shade is an absolute pleasure in the summer heat. Since the B&B is located up there, the viewpoints can be accessed any time. For viewpoint 4 and 5 you need your ticket though.||Now the B&B: it is lovely and well-maintained and lies in a lovely quiet area of the park. Staff is supersweet and attentive and breakfast is very nice indeed (prepare sandwiches for your day in the park).|The rooms are large and have all the amenities.|And when I went in to settle our bill of several beers and a bottle of wine, they said it was on the house. So...
Read moreEverything was absolutely excellent. The room was super big and had everything you need. Cleaning 10+++. A lot of attention to details, you could tell the accommodation was carefully and tastefully designed. The host was incredibly nice and she makes the best pancakes and scrambled eggs. So you can probably tell we also loved the breakfast. :)
For the Park, you can buy online any Entrance ticket and the hour doesn't matter that much. There is an unofficial entrance very close by, where the Park staff will scan your tickets. We visited in September, but I recommend you to eat your morning breakfast, then grab some snacks for the rest of the day. There are very limited options on the resting areas on the routes. For dinner, we highly recommend to avoid the restaurants nearby the accommodation, take the car and drive for 15 minutes to Restaurant Degenija - better prices and much better quality food.
I really hope all accommodations were...
Read moreLocation, location! This is an amazing place to stay with so many perks. The entrance to Plitvice Park is just a short walk away, and there are a couple of really nice restaurants within walking distance. Our host, Mirjana, was wonderful. Even though we arrived late, she was there to greet us and help us get settled. She asked what time we’d like breakfast, and had everything prepared and ready earlier than scheduled. The breakfast spread was incredible—so many options, including cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, jams, breads, and coffee. On top of that, she made us delicious eggs every morning. The room was spotless, and we had a beautiful balcony overlooking the backyard. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the fresh air, complete with Adirondack chairs, a swing, and tables. Parking was free and right at B&B. We couldn’t have asked for more. We would absolutely stay here again, and I can’t wait to recommend it to my...
