Read morePros:|| The room I was in was large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I was really, pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The photos don't do the place justice.|| I was in room 3 and had a very spacious room which included:|| • A large, comfortable bed and bedding.|| • An additional single bed.|| • Large bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. Towels provided.|| • Large wardrobe with shelving, hanging and cupboards.|| • TV, air-conditioner, heating, a kettle, mugs and glasses.|| There was a shared fridge, freezer, crockery and cutlery but no cooking facilities.|| Parking is available (but I didn’t use it as I travelled by bus).|| The owner and staff were prompt and helpful in their communications (I booked and messaged via booking.com).|| Helpful information in the entrance hall about the local area, including contact details for a taxi driver.|| Excellent hot water in the bathroom (which was really nice as my last accommodation was a hostel).|| Excellent internet. I used it whenever I was at the guest house and had no troubles even on a zoom video call.|| The guest house is:|| • Less than a 5-minute walk from the Mukinje bus stop (I caught the bus from Zagreb).|| • A 5 - 10-minute walk to a small supermarket called Robni Centar.|| • An easy bus ride to Plitvice entrance 1 or 2 (I paid €2 for the bus one way) or walk to entrance 2 (it’s about 2km from the guest house to entrance 2).|| • About a 5 minute walk to Pizzeria Vučnica (which, as a solo traveller and small eater, did me for three meals!).|| • Buses are available from Mukinje to Bihac, you just have to book two tickets – one from Mukinje to Ličko Petrovo Selo and then Ličko Petrovo Selo to Bihac. It’s the same bus (no need to change buses at Ličko Petrovo Selo) and stops at the border crossing between Croatia and Bosnia.|||Cons:|| Sound travels quite a bit in the building and the room doors are a little noisy when they’re opened and closed. Having said that, I'm guessing most people stay at the Guest House to visit the Plitvice Lakes. This means any noise is usually at reasonable times of day, and when everyone's asleep or out for the day, the accommodation is wonderfully quiet.|| In an area without a lot of food options, the ability to cook or heat something in a microwave something would be great.|||About the reviewer: 46 year old solo female traveller from Australia. I booked a family room for 2 nights in this guest house through Booking.com. I was travelling with my wife and our 2 kids (10 and 12 years old). When we arrived, we had a very warm welcome from the owner, who showed us the room, offered to take a "garden hose" shower! We had a lot of fun, as the day was very hot.||||The room was perfect for our family, as there was a large bedroom with a king size bed and another room in a mezzanine with 2 single beds where our kids slept. The atmosphere was great, very close to what you expect in the mountains. We also has a small balcony. The bathroom was wide and clean, like the rest of the room.||||Breakfast was another strong point. It is served in a nice little house in front of the guest house itself. Together with coffee, milk, tea and a few juices, it included a very generous plate of scrambled eggs (we guessed it was about 10 eggs for the 4 of us), bread, yoghurt, cereals, muessli and other delicious stuff. After such a breakfast, we did not need lunch at all!||||We also had good advices from the owner's wife for our visit to the park. That spared us a lot of time the day after.||||The house is in a small village called Jezerce, where we had the feeling that 80% of buildings are guest houses. But there is a restaurant at walking distance and the main entrance of the National Park is at 4 km. The place is very quiet and beautiful.||||Overall, a very positive and enjoyable experience. We definitely recommend it for your visit to the Plitvice...

It is a short walk steeply uphill from the bus stop (you want the Mukinje Stop, which IS served by Flixbus) or anything else. There is a pizzeria about 800m away (try the mini pizza sandwich) and a decent (moderately sized) supermarket about another 500m past that - it is steeply uphill again to the supermarket (the pizzeria is relatively flat once back at the bus stop).
We walked along the road to the national park (a must see) - it is a mile to Entrance 2 - doable, but having got a taxi the next day with the luggage for €10, I wonder if the time, effort & mild risk (it is a rural A road, solid white lines all the way, with no pavement) were worth it. We did route E around the upper lakes - we are unfit (but give it a go), with various aches, pains & ailments, but we managed it - I would not like to try it in 10 years time - go NOW! The views of the lakes & especially waterfalls were breathtaking (literally) 🥰, nearly as much as the heat, humidity & effort. We managed to find the route home through the forest and past the supermarket in Mukinje - that was a challenge - at times I expected a "K2 summit" sign!
