Villa Jezerka was one of the most comfortable places we stayed during our trip in Croatia. The design of the building and the setting against the mountains reminded me of a chalet, and the abundant firewood outside the main house further reminded me of skiing in the mountains. The room was quite basic, but clean, with a comfortable bed, and we even had a small deck outside our room! Though we could hear the doors to the other rooms closing and opening, it was quiet and peaceful through the night (I don't think people go to the lakes to party :-) ||The owners were quite hospitable, greeting us with two shots of liquor, and very helpful--the husband gave us a ride to the lakes in the morning, which was greatly appreciated! There was a little bit of confusion upon our arrival. The check-in area, which happened to be the owners' home, was not obvious, so we ended up knocking on several doors. A sign would be helpful. Also, when were waiting for breakfast in the morning, we waited in the separate kitchen (stand-alone) for 15 minutes. Finally, with major reservations about bothering the owners in their own home, we knocked on their door and discovered that they had a serving room inside their own house. Communication on this point would be good, going forward. ||Breakfast was good! I had expected something continental, like hard rolls and coffee. but the lady of the house whipped us some eggs and we had some cold cuts for protein, in addition to cereal, yogurt, fruit, and granola. Worth the 6 Euro.||All in all, Villa Jezerka met all of our needs and was as terrific...
Read moreWe spent 2 nights there to visit the famous lakes (great!!).||The place is very well located: easy to find bay car, close to entrance 2 of the park. On foot: 15-20' to small market, 30' to entrance 2 of the park following a signposted path in the woods.||Very charming and helpful hosts. They speak as well Italian, German and English. We ask them if we could use their washing machine and the lady of the house washed them for us (5€ charge).||The breakfast is simple, but there's everything one needs: fruits, yogurt, cereals, bread, jam, nutella, butter, cheese, ham, salami, tea, coffee, juice and you even get an omelette! :)||The room (we had number 2 on 1st floor) is huge, has comfy bed and a well equipped bathroom. Everything is clean. The room comes with a...
Read moreVilla Jezerka is a family home that was converted in a lovely accommodation. On arrival we were given shots of a homemade fruit liquor made from fruit grown on the property. We stayed in the room for 3 and enjoyed the space. We enjoyed talking to our hosts and getting to meet many of their family members. There is a garden with great outdoor seating options (hammock!) and we ate our dinner that we had prepared in the well set up full kitchen there. Breakfast was 6 euro but definitely worth it!! We had freshly prepared omelets, lots of muesli, and fresh bread. There are many option for accommodation when visiting Plitvice National Park, but this experience felt truly local. There is a market and bistro within in walking distance which gives good...
