We were a family group of mixed ages. The kids had a good time at the pool (it was a little chilly outside and the inside pool is tiny) and they loved the self serve ice cream at the bar. However... We took the all inclusive deal, we had a good experience at other hotels - is easy with the kids and great for us when we want to grab a drink or a snack. The food was just not worth it. We're not picky eaters at all, but it was sub par. At breakfast there was very little selection of vegetables, same breads and baked goods every day. Some of the items were just awful looking - pale sausages, terrible looking scrambled eggs. I had the same every day - fried eggs (way too much oil), some bread, some cheese, some veggies. Salads were the same every day and not very good. Lunch wasn't good. Definitely not worth it. Outdated food, bland, dry. The kids had nuggets and fries every day. I'm ashamed to admit that after the first day, so did I. Dinner was halfway decent on some days, reminded me wedding food from the nineties.
The rooms are fairly large but very outdated. No USB ports, very little electrical outlets. The shower flooded every time - the seal under the glass was bad. Holes in the tiles, some rust. Everything was working, just barely. They are generous with the towels, which smell clean. We had a mechanical key to the room which was a pain, only one copy. Others had key cards, seems that just our system didn't work. Good blackout blinds. Decent coffee capsules. The rooms have small tables and chairs inside and out, one tanning bed (for four people...). The maid woke us up every morning at 0900 (don't judge, vacation!). When we asked her to come back later, she said she can't and left. The hotel has a gym at the spa, a little old, but some selection of dumbbells, smith machine and cardio equipment. No gym towels available. No wipes, and I know for a fact it's not cleaned regularly. I overheard a guest asking to clean the restrooms after her kid used the facilities, and the spa receptionist got really upset with her and sent her to the hotel reception at a different building. Not cool at all, she had a phone and could have made the effort. The bar was cool, beer and drinks, no munchies available for the all inclusive (beer nuts? Pretzels? Come on guys). It's a snack bar in the afternoon, and I have to say that I never had such a bad burger. Ever. And I had some crappy ones. For some reason they put live cucumber in each burger - instead of a pickle? I don't really know. The buns were not fresh. The patty was grey and did not taste good. Pizza was halfway decent, definitely from frozen and not the good kind. The Greek salad was OK.
Every night there's a live show at the bar - the performers are just unbelievably awful. Like the bad auditions on talent shows.
But the worst thing for me - the absolute worst - the coffee was just awful. I don't need a barista or anything fancy, just a nice espresso. No sugar even, just a simple coffee. The rooms had a machine with somewhat decent capsules (machine wasn't cleaned in a while... I could tell) but we got four capsules for five days. I drink three coffees just to start off the day.
They do have a good view and a nice pool.
The location isn't the best, we took the bus out a couple of days. Not a big deal if the food was good, but a pain when you want to get a decent dinner with everyone.
This place has potential, but definitely past it's prime. Will not come back and I don't feel I got my...
Read moreFollowing my recent return from a vacation at Sunset Bay Hotel, I must express my general satisfaction with the hotel, which offers a remarkable view of the island. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that certain rooms within the premises would benefit from renovations.
While I would like to express my gratitude to the entire crew, I must highlight that among the service sections (reception, bar, and restaurant), the restaurant team stood out as the most exceptional. Their customer service skills were exceptional since they demonstrated an outstanding level of attention to detail.
Because I am a pescatarian and my sister is a vegan, the staff made certain that our dietary requirements were met during the entirety of the trip. Thank you to the chef for accommodating our dietary preferences so that we did not go without.
Special thank you to the,
RESTAURANT TEAM
Meet and greet, Stavros. Your customer service skills are simply outstanding. You have a true customer focus and have always been accommodating, greeting all service users with a smile and assuring everyone's well-being during service.
Restaurant Manager: Alexandra. You, I must say, are accredited to this industry. Your brilliance shines through in your team. You are an asset to this hotel, and I hope your quality is recognised.
Restaurant Supervisor - Alex, thank you for always making us feel welcome.
Dikis (Flipper) - Hot plate. a great flipper that pays attention to what we require in a quick and timely manner.
Andrey - is efficient and dedicated.
Marina and Gabriella, I'm proud of you two. You are gracious and courteous, and you never failed to smile during the service. I am aware that working in the heat may be difficult for you, but it didn't show in the quality of your service. I'm giving you flowers for that, ladies. Keep working hard; you'll succeed in this field.
BAR STAFF - I would especially want to compliment
Elena - was approachable and gave good customer service I compliment you for your service,
Zoe - is a customer-focused individual; you anticipated our drink preferences before we came lol. Kudos to you both for creating our cocktails and making sure we were comfortable the entire time.
Front desk- thank you for your assistance, especially when I got trapped in the bathroom.
The mechanism within the doorknob was damaged, so when the door was closed, it automatically locked me in, prompting three individuals to try to open his door. Fortunately, I am an adult; if that had been a young child who was unable to communicate, the implications could have been disastrous for that poor child, or anyone who didn’t have another person in the room with them to get help.
Please conduct a risk assessment before anyone stays in the rooms and check to see whether they are compliant.
I want to thank the guy who had to kick the door in the end to get me out. Your response was really quick, especially since I am asthmatic and couldn't breathe well in the heat of the bathroom.
My recommendation would be to advise that you use
British plugs, as well as labelling all of the food in the restaurant so that it is clear what it is, especially for those with allergies.
The team did an excellent job, and the major question is if I will return? My response...
Read moreRight let's start we were a bit unsure due to reading some reviews so I can only go on our experience so far.Arrival was delt with quickly and professional though we were not shown to our room.As we arrived after 22.30 all we got to eat was a dried up sandwich but anything was welcome as we had been travelling all day.On finding our room which was in the new building across the car park we were pleasantly surprised to find a large clean room with a bathroom with 2 shower heads and a wonderful mirror system. We paid €2 per day for safe and had complimentary tea n coffee in yr room every day plus we have had a good supply of bathroom products. There Is a hair dryer supplied in the room and very good air conditioning. The balcony we had overlooks a green area with the sea in the background. There is some building work on the other side to us but there was little noise to disturb. The breakfast n lunch are taken in the downstairs restraunt and breakfast is the usual salad fruits or cooked fried eggs pancakes etc.Lunch is a excellent choice of salad pasta meat fish etc.The only problem is don't expect the food to be hot it is usually only warm but we have so far found it very tasty.Evening meals are taken upstairs with a view over the beach and ocean and the sunsets are beautiful. The evening meal serves a nice prosecco, house wine so so, larger nice.Lady chef cooks a lovely roast beef and most nights there is a theme. The deck area is a nice place to sit after dinner n have a coffee n tia Maria with the view of the ocean.you can also get snacks between 3.30 n 5.30 of hamburgers, omlettes jacket potatoes chips etc all included on all inclusive. There are 3 pools 1 infinity I length n 1 indoor/outdoor all with wonderful views out to sea.The staff in the restraunt don't converse much but the bar staff are great and one young lady from Bolgaria called Krasimira is a credit to the hotel.she always has a smile for everyone n you never have to wait for a drink. Entainment is singer on the deck area good performance last night oldies 60 nite. While we are here there has been a bus strike so we have used taxis but always ask the price 1st time we had a company called Katrina cabs and she charged €15 to coral beach when all the others have charged €10.When the buses r running g u can get a all day for €5 so jump on n off when u want. There are not many walks by the hotel as u are on a hill but you can walk to a bar/restraunt overlooking the bay in about 10/15 mins but you need to book as very popular round sunset. There is some pavement on the walk to coral beach but it pitted out and as a major rd could be dangerous. So our room 8 .restraunt 7. bar 10. pool 10 .reception deal with problems/re quests quickly only need to be a little more welcoming evening staff better than day.so 7.Going for a pampering tomorrow in the spa and a all day boat trip Sunday. So far enjoyed our time here no complaints for what we paid good value for money and if your looking for a chill out holiday with wonderful views then this is the place for you.Everyone finds different values expected in a holiday and I can say our money was well spent.Looking forward to rest...
