The Guest House itself is nice, but owner is not to be trusted. We booked directly with the hotel two days before arrival, and was required to transfer the payment in euro to a Belgian bank account in order to secure the booking.
When we checked out after our stay they made us feel like criminals that tried to run away from the bill, even though we provided a recipt from our bank both by email and in the reception, it was not accepted, and we had to pay one more time with our cards in the reception.
Later on, after a lot of discussions online, they promised to cancel our payment by card in the reception.
A week later, the transaction is still not cancelled, and we have still not received our money back as promised.
If you book here, make sure you use an agent in order to avoid problems with payment with owner.
My answer to the below response from the owner:
When we booked the room, I made a bank transfer to your bank account in Belgium as requested. On my bank receipt that was sent to you it was clearly stated that it would take 2-5 days and I specifically made you aware of this. You never mentioned we would have to pay for the stay by cards if you did not receive the payment from our bank. Not only did you not trust us, you did not trust our bank.
After we checed out, you said you would cancel our credit card payment immediately. Then there were no reason to give you my IBAN.
If you had cancelled the credit card bill immediately as promised, we would not need to have this exchange of messages.
I notice that you have many satisfied costumers. But when I see how you react to costumers that aren’t equally satisfied by calling them names, I am not surprised many customers are not airing their dissatisfaction.
Regarding calling me for a drama queen; there is a first for everything and as a 62-year old man I am too old to get upset on my own behalf. That said, I am a proud member of the LGBTQ community and I recognize exactly why you choose to use this slur. With your attitude I would strongly advise members of the LGBT community and their supporters to chose another hotel.
There are so many small, charming guest houses in North Cyprus that support the local community and do not require (illegal?) money transfers outside of the country in order to book a room. Use...
Read moreWe booked and paid in advance for a 3 night stay during September 2021. It became apparent during the first day that some facilities advertised by the property were not available (an on-site bar and a la carte restaurant). We would not have booked to stay had we known that the property lacked these particular facilities. As the owners had already vacated the property by late afternoon, we stayed the first night and checked out after breakfast. We explained the reasons for our early departure and requested a refund for the remaining two nights (we were prepared to pay for the first night, even though the property was not as advertised). The owner said he would speak with his wife and let us know. We then left and checked in to another hotel for the remaining two nights of our stay. The end result was that they did not refund ANY money and marked us as a 'No Show', so we could not leave a review on the website through which we had booked. This type of behaviour is dishonest and against our consumer rights. The on-line description of the property has since been amended to remove references to the on-site restaurant and bar. At least that is one positive to come from this. Please be careful, as we were very disappointed in the owners' flippant attitude towards paying customers with a legitimate grievance concerning falsely advertised...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
The guest house is beautiful, clean and serene. The staff are welcoming and helpful.
The guesthouse is situated within the beautiful castle walls. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, and key historical sites a few minutes walk away.
The guest house itself has a calm energy. We had a separate building we stayed in, which felt private and it was also quiet. The beds were comfortable. There were outside spaces where you could relax.
We really appreciated their efforts to preserve the heritage of the buildings and gardens. In our room, we had the original stone walls and what looked like a centuries old olive tree in the courtyard.
Their breakfasts are amazing and authentic. You can see the effort they go to and attention to detail. For instance, they offer a variety of delicious fruit preserves. You can tell it's home made and uses local produce, with delicate flavours. Their orange juice was amazing. It tasted like the traditional Cypriot recipe of combining citrus fruits that grow on the island, which elevates the flavour. They also offered varied hot breakfast foods and home made boreks and pastries.
We would definitely stay here again when we...
