Awful, awful experience here. We came as a couple to celebrate two years of marriage and ended up cancelling the booking entirely.
When we got to our room there was no wi-fi, the AC didn't work and the bathroom was flooded with toilet water. As soon as we got in, a maintenance worker came to fix the leak from the toilet. We wanted to use the pool and then go out but we wasted an hour awkwardly waiting for this stranger to fix the toilet and leave. He called someone to fix the AC who never came. I went to use the bathroom before finally heading down to the pool and stepped barefoot into now-fresh toilet water, and had to mop it up myself with a towel.
After that we went to use the pool, letting the reception know our problems and asked for it to be fixed when we got back. After a couple of hours in the pool, we return to the room and find that nothing had been done to fix the AC, but the toilet was fixed and there was no extra toilet water to greet us. I called down to inquire about the AC when my wife discovered dirty, crusty sandals in the room, one sticking out from under the bed and another one under the TV stand.
By this point the magic was gone and we just wanted to leave. With our plans for the evening thrown into disarray, we went down to the reception to ask for a refund where the assistant manager came to 'assist' us. We explained the issue to him several times as he found it quite hard to understand or accept. He then got us to write it all down on a plain piece of A4 paper, so we listed off: 1. bathroom flooded with toilet water, 2. no AC, 3. no wi-fi and 4. nasty sandals left in the room (and whatever else was not cleaned).
He tried to justify the AC and bathroom issue with stating how there was a power cut (as if that's any fault of the guest or makes it okay somehow?), didn't address the sandals and cleanliness of the room, and offered to move us to another room. Not an upgrade, just another room. We denied the offer and asked again to cancel as we'd just had enough, and even offered to pay the difference for the 3-4 hours that we had been there. He refused, very rudely, by saying how we had already checked in so he won't give us a refund. Going back and forth, he sarcastically asks us where our luggage is if we don't want the room. We told him that they're ready to be retrieved as soon as we can settle the refund, to which he shut us down by saying 'well, that means you've checked in and so accepted the room' and that we won't be getting any refund at all. Like, actually standing there and arguing with us as if we're the ones being unreasonable. I told him that if he doesn't solve it amicably then we would just contact our bank and request a chargeback, as we won't be staying in the hotel. He continued to argue with us so we just walked away to get our luggage.
When we got back to the room the phone was ringing, asking us to come down to speak to the general manager. We went back, with crusty sandals in tow, to find that it's the same assistant manager ready for round 2. Except he changed his tone and offered to refund us (quite weirdly, as he didn't outright say this but just presented a card machine and told us to present the card we used to pay...). After this he was more pleasant to deal with, probably after receiving a mouthful from the GM about arguing with guests. He made us sign a bunch of paperwork stating that the refund had been processed, and then we got to settling the mini-bar bill. We had a couple of chocolates and a packet of sweets whilst waiting for the maintenance guy, so we spent several minutes trying to convince him that we'd eaten more than his staff counted as missing from the fridge. Once everything was settled, he apologised and offered us tea/coffee.
Overall not worth the price AT ALL and a TERRIBLE experience with the room & service above. All was sorted in the end but it wasn't the outcome we wanted when we were excitedly booking a '5 star' hotel. I've never felt the need to cancel a booking on the day and the whole thing just left a...
Read moreThis hotel is a nice hotel to stay at and the staff are very polite and helpful (Arti, Pinky and others. The hotel Reminds me of an old program on the TV called Dynasty. The hotel is very clean, smells very nice as the corridors and lifts have got a nice smell of fragrance. The rooms are very clean and tidy and the management have well thought of providing extras like slippers, hair dryer, etc within the rooms and a balcony for when you want to just chill. Air conditioning, TV, kettle, fridge, bed side lamps, etc in the rooms, The food is very nice and they have three restaurants within the building with a roof top bar restaurant with wonderful views which has music and djs playing on Friday's and Saturday's. Someone playing relaxing music with the piano on the ground floor at evening dinner time. One of the best casinos that's open till late with roulette, fruit machines and poker rooms for those who like a flutter. Small gym, swimming pool sauna and steam rooms below the ground floor when you want to relax. You can have a massage there if you want but does cost you extra. Free WiFi so you can use your apps to make calls and keep in touch with your love one's abroad. Also watch films etc when your just relaxing at the hotel. North Cyprus is not recognised by the European Union and the International countries, so roaming with your mobile phone, data might cause a bit of difficulty and you should contact your network provider to confirm before travel. I have got a smart cap, so my monthly bills cannot go up anymore and I can receive incoming calls from England, etc, but cannot call out when I tried. So having WiFi Internet is a added bonus. So you can put your phone onto airplane mode or take out your sim card or disable sim card and use free apps like imo, what's app and others to keep in touch with people. You can relax on the sun bed along the outside pool and listen to some music as you take in the sun. Also try some of the food on offer like calamari etc at the pool side restaurant. Not for the people who like the resorts type of holiday hotel with all games and activities in them. As they don't have table tennis, water polo and other activities. If you just want to have a mature, relaxing, quite break this is the...
Read moreI have stayed for 6 nights. It is a really nice hotel, good location, (you can take buses to Lefkosa and escape beach right from the round about which is next to the hotel), however I would like to share some of bad experiences for the hotel to consider and customers to know. First of all, there is a construction going on next to the hotel it seemed a bit scary in the beginning however I didn't get that much noise at all. The noise was coming from the air condition. It was like a motor engine sound and really disturbing one. The rooms are spacious, very clean and well designed. However they don't have ironing service that was totally disappointing since they put a list of laundry prices and nothing looks affordable at all. T Shirt 25 tl, shirts 40 etc imagine paying room rate to laundry is quite ridiculous so consider before booking if you need ironing (who doesn't after a long haul flight). Food was amazing both breakfast and dinner. However, a few things for the hotel to consider. First of all, egg was boiled no other option like sunny side up or scrambled. (Probably you pay extra for that). steak in the dinner was so hard I mean you need gold teeth to chew. On the other hand, the staff was super friendly. Madam Tuba (customer relations) came and asked about our stay. I have told her about the problems. She said she would help and the day of our departure they offered us a suit room which we refused. They tried at least but a bit late. However if you ask me If I enjoyed staying here....
