We have just spent another lovely week at the Mimosa Beach and are already planning our next visit. We stayed in one of the brand new rooms on the fourth floor overlooking the pool and beach and what a lovely room it is. Everything freshly white, a well equipped, clean and smart bathroom with a shower that not only works well but is tall enough to stand under if you're 6ft tall! It was nice to see ample electrical sockets around the room and beside each bed and a decent enough selection of TV channels in English, Greek and Russian. If I could make one suggestion it would be a USB charging socket that stays live when the door key is removed from the slot. The fridge is hardwired into socket that remains live so it would be useful to have somewhere to charge or top up phones, kindles etc while down for a meal. The food is what you would expect from a hotel of this standard, don't expect Michelin rated gourmet meals but there's always a good selection of very tasty grub. Breakfast is excellent catering for every possible style and the fry up is superb. Half board gives you the option to swap the evening meal with a bar snack at lunchtime, great if you want to venture out to a local taverna or brave the main strip in Protaras. I don't really understand why another reviewer would rate the location as 1/5, I can only think he was annoyed he didn't do his homework before booking! Mimosa Beach is a good 20 minute walk from Protaras town centre and at the end of a dead end road which makes it a nice quiet place to stay. The beach at the edge of the hotel, literally 25m away is sandy although it does get busy in the morning with miserable Russians (do cheerful ones even exist?), most seem to disappear around lunchtime making it more peaceful. There are a few shops up on the main road that sell everything you probably need and a couple of tavernas within easy walking distance, a couple of times we walked into Protaras stopping off en route at Irresistible Bar for glass or two of red! The local bus service seems to be very regular, cheap and stops just up the road from the hotel. We chose to hire a car, it's cheap enough and driving in Cyprus is a joy compared to the UK with empty, good quality roads. All the staff and both Linda and Eugene the owners (plus Biggles the dog) are so friendly they make any stay there a real pleasure which is probably why such a high proportion of the guests are regulars, with many returning year after year. You only need to spend a couple of minutes in the restaurant or around the bar to hear someone say this is their umpteenth time they've been or that they've been coming for the last 10/20 years!

Our room was clean and well maintained and the room was quiet at night, Basic room with small balcony with varying degree of sea view depending on which room booked. The bed was comfortable but had a very Firm mattress. Good shower plenty of hot water. Safe in room with a key at 12 euros per week although not needed as we found the hotel to be trustworthy, Good air con works well although have to have doors closed so no ventilation. They only supply 1 hand towell and 1 small bath towell per person and towels only changed every three days. Maid comes in Daily. There is free WiFi which worked in my room and at the beach. There is a games room with a pool table cost 1 euro and table tennis is free also a dart board. Pool aerobics 10am Tuesday and Thursday, Male masuse giving massages from 20 euros 1/2 hour. Entertainment (mainly low quality singers) start 9pm finishes 23:00, Although one night there was a traditional bouzouki player which was highly entertaining. Breakfast 6.45 - 9.30am Bar snacks 11.00 - 5.00pm Dinner. 7.00 - 9.30pm Buffet style food on a two week rota, I'm a fussy eater but always found something I liked and bearing in mind it's a 3 star the food is good. No free drinks at Dinner service only breakfast. If half board you can swap Dinner for Lunch/bar snacks. check out midday or late check out 30 euros or there is a courtesy room with shower, hair dryer, towels etc available and they also look after your cases for late checkouts. Staff are friendly and accommodating and we were given better service than we have received from 4 star hotels we have stayed at. Good snorkelling around the rocks and shallow rocky area. Water shoes a bonus. There is also a statue under the water lots of fish. hotel sunbeds are free but ones on the municipal small sandy beach cost 2.50 euros plenty of hotel sunbeds though and no reserving allowed. Mobile ice cream van turns up every couple of hours. There is a Dive center next to the hotel called Happy Divers which has good reviews. 101/102 bus to protoras cost 1 euro 50 each way the bus stop by supermarket on main road a few mins walk 650 meters. Can walk to protoras on coastal path takes 30 - 40 mins or in the opposite direction to Turtle beach in 20 mins, Direct access to coastal path so you could walk for miles. Plenty of good excursions available to book around Cyprus. I highly recommend this hotel and area of Cyprus if you want to be close to but away from the hustle and bustle.

What a fantastic hotel and the staff were excellent. They all seemed happy to help and very friendly without being over bearing. Air con in the room was efficient which was much needed as we arrived in a heat wave (every day over 35c). Room was cleaned every day. We paid a little extra for a sea view and it was well worth it. I never heard a sound from neighboring rooms. Evening meals were varied and delicious. The breakfasts I didn't enjoy quite so much but it was hard to find an appetite at 7 or 8 in the morning when its already over 30 and very humid outside. The pool was perfectly clean and enjoyable and a literal stones throw from the beach which was excellent for snorkeling (we saw all sorts of fish). Hotel wifi was very good (40mb/s) compared to others I have experienced. Quite enjoyed sitting at the bar in the evening having a drink which wasn't overly expensive. Its a little out of Protaras so on a hot day you wouldn't want to walk into town (25mins or so). I had a hire car and parking was easy to find wherever we went. Apparently the bus is only €2 but we never used it. However, as it is a little out of town, it was always very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. There are a few small supermarkets within 10 minutes walk for the essentials. If you want to save a bit of money the Lidl in town is cheap. One thing I wasn't sure about Cyprus was drinking water. I believe the tap water is drinkable (had no effect on me) but if you prefer bottled its very cheap in the shops. A 500ml bottle will cost you like 30 cents. Or you can get 6 1.5L bottles from Lidl for about €1.80. They fit perfectly into the mini fridge that's in the rooms (something I didn't realise was a feature of the rooms until I got there). Sorry if that's all obvious, but it wasn't for me before I went so thought worth mentioning.

I didn’t really know how to start this review as a visiting travel agent it was always going to be hard to try and not be bias etc. ||However, I definitely want to celebrate success when it is due.||I have been travelling to the island of Cyprus for 45 years, I have stayed in 90% of the hotels in Protaras and I have definitely saved the best till last.||The hotel is based between Protaras and Konnos Bay, so this hotel is more for the holidaymaker who is genuinely here to relax. A bus ride costs around €2 at the top of the road that will take you into Protaras one way and the other way to Ayia Napa. ||There is minimal entertainment, so a singer, quiz and bingo. There is no kiddies disco, no entertainment team, which I loved! (I have done that for 25 years now I need to relax) ||Food is plentiful Breakfast is full English, Cereals, Fruit, Toast and Cakes, I did miss the pastries and pancakes but never mind. Breakfast is between 7-9.30am, could do with maybes running till 10.30 for late risers but never the less. ||Never an issue getting a sunbed! Everyday plenty sunbeds. ||Lunch time / Pool Bar - Amazing service, Georgia, Stelios and the team go out of their way to make your stay personal, relaxing and enjoyable. Georgia has everyone’s names learnt and you feel like a part of the Mimosa Family from the get go. ||You can change your evening meal for lunch and also if you don’t see what you like on the half board lunch menu, be sure to ask, we have Jacket potatoes some lunchtimes which were beautiful and the Chicken in a Basket is a must!||We didn’t use the nighttime meals as we like to go out for food on a night so being able to swap was a godsend. ||Hotel is very clean, half of the rooms are modern and the other half are a little dated but not where you feel you’re living in the 70’s.||Housekeeping - amazing, we were on the 2nd floor and our Housekeeper was absolutely lush! Our room was always spotless and she was super friendly, making small talk with us as we were leaving the room ! ||We had a small issue with air con when we arrived, however Eugene personally sorted our room move, had our cases moved over and he legit mingles with everyone ||This hotel is the essence of Cypriot Hospitality, it allows the cultural friendly loving Cypriot approach carry on over the over commercialised hotels. It was my husbands birthday while we stayed and we were left fruit and wine and a note wishing him happy birthday, service has been world class. ||We will be back next year and many more years to come! ||Thankyou to Eugene, Linda and the Mimosa Team for a fantastic holiday we can’t wait to return x ||Oh and not forgetting the gorgeous Biggles ….. the little hotel dog who is the most gentle old soul you will come across!! ||5 stars and more from us!||If you want to relax, enjoy the sun and recharge your batteries this is the...
