I am a frequent guest at Hotel Solestar (formerly Hotel Winkler). Quaint facility with great food, lovely patio where you can eat and have Czech Beers. I have been coming here since 1994 and always have had a wonderful experience. My most recent visit in the first weekend of September 2014 was very pleasent. I had commented in a posting in 2012 on Trip Advisor that English speakers among staff was limited however in this visit all staff had enough English to make communication easy (but not as much of an adventure). There are newer rooms to the rear of the hotel and some of the traditdional room adjoinging the patio. We took the suite facing the front of the hotel. A large multiroom with separate bed room (with baby crib) living room with pull out sofa. Large dressing room near the bathroom with tub and shower combo. Note: the hotel is near the regional bus terminal so about 5am buses begin traveling in front of hotel so if sound is an issue ask for a room to the back of the hotel. Sparkling clean in rooms, restureant and public areas. Well maintained hotel. ||||Food is excellent. Czech German foods. Don't let that deter your choices. Lighter choices include chicken. Some pasta selections (why? You are in a Czech/German resturant) Desert of pancakes (really crepes) is not to be missed. You may need 4 to finish since the size is huge. I would not hesitate to stay again. Other tourists came from other hotels to eat at...
Read moreWe stayed at Hotel Solestar (formerly Hotel Winkler) on a weekend in the dead of winter. It felt pretty closed up at this time, with the restaurant only open for two hours in the evening, and of course during breakfast service. The rooms were comfortable and the decor reminded me a bit of staying at your aunt's or grandma's, which I felt was charming... very homey. Very clean, comfortable beds, and excellent location- very close to the main square and the bridge to see the Jewish Quarter. The hotel manager was kind and even let us stay in a slightly nicer room for the same price as a twin bed room, perhaps because it was the slow season. ||There is free WiFi (which worked poorly in our first floor room, perhaps it works better downstairs) but be careful- you need to ask for a code for one hour, and would need an additional code for more online time, which is provided free at the front desk. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would probably stay here again... preferably during a more lively...
Read moreThis is a lovely small hotel near the centre and the UNESCO-listed attractions. It is not a luxury hotel, but the owners are so friendly and helpful that it deserves five stars. We communicated in English, but they even made the effort to use some Spanish! Food was also excellent, and breakfast was more than enough. It is served but the owner came several times to ask if we needed something else. We strongly recommend it, we felt so very welcome, we would return any time only...
