Herning City Hotel — Hotel in Herning Municipality

We were going to a concert in the Arena and needed a place to sleep. There were not much left in Herning but Corona offered a junior suite for 1475 kr. For a hotel in Copenhagen it might be the price - I did find it rather expensive. Was was a junior suite ? A bit extra room where you get in and an extra couch. Nothing really special - however very clean and newly up-dated, so a generally nice room to enter.||Breakfast was OK too.||There were however some major irritation issues. ||Arriving was difficult. Can't blame the hotel - but we tried 3 different roads to reach the hotel, because it's so close to the center, that most roads were blocked only to allow walking. Always drive in from "the top".||Arriving at the hotel there wasn't any parking. Beside the hotels too small parking lot there was a much bigger public one. It had 3 hours limitation though. The hotel owner told us, it didn't count in the weekend - however that's what the signs said, so we had to get up to move the car before 8 o'clock to be sure. Really irritating.||The placement in the center of town is pleasant in order to go out to eat. BUT ... it's also where all drunkards of the town is singing and shouting when going to pub or going home. It's REALLY noisy all night - specially from 24 - 02... and though it's newer windows they are far from effective to minor the noise. That's the most important thing to do...

Down town hotel, fine and friendly staff, no design or modern hotel but its clean and convenient. I had 2 issues though: upon arrival I was not informed that the parking of my car has to be registered. There is a paper hanging on the reception desk in Danish but you as a foreigner if you don't know that the hotel parking is a subject of a fine if you don't do something, you wont find out easily. I wish the receptionist asked me as in other hotels if I have a car, besides that before arrival I asked especially for the parking and no info about this registration was shared. Besides that if you don't have a Danish phone number the registration becomes complicated. issue and quite bad is the terrible ventilation system. The whole hotel including the rooms smells really strongly like bacon and whatever they cook in the kitchen. It was hot and I could not keep the balcony door open due to the heavy rains. you should not smell the food in your room. Just for this I will in the future avoid this hotel, otherwise it...

Tiny room, barely big enough for one narrow single bed and a small armoire.. No air conditioning or fan. The bed's head end is placed up against a double shelf, making it practically impossible to sit up comfortably.||No drinking glass is provided in the bathroom; a paper cup will have to do. ||Breakfast was a pretty good spread, on a par with other Danish hotels, with the exception of the "orange juice," which tasted like flavored water.||The staff is pleasant but too often missing in action. At one point I stood at the front desk and dinged the bell 10 times over five or six minutes; finally and coincidentally, the front desk clerk arrived from outside, carrying supermarket bags, having evidently abandoned her post to go grocery shopping.||Herning is a small town with a sleepy, lethargic feel, and the hotel...
