Horrible experience! when I saw the listings for the rooms that they had available I didn't really pay attention to the name Backpackers. I mean the rooms look nice the pictures look beautiful it look like an open space, and they have King beds available. This is especially important because I'm at tall guy and in Ecuador specially Banos it was very difficult to find affordable queen size or king size beds. As soon as we walk in tired from a 6 hour drive from Cuenca they tell us that one of the rooms that we booked was going to be switched instead of a king will be getting a full and a separate twin bed because the jacuzzi room that we booked was not available. They didn't called us before hand. To compensate us they only gave us a cheap bottle of wine and that was it. After explaining to them that I won't be able to fit into a fool sized bed because I'm 6-3 tall they switched us to another room that apparently had a king size bed, but it was really two beds to put together so it was extremely uncomfortable. We also didn't sleep because there was a party literally right behind us, the walls were thin and you can hear everything even people coughing right on top of you. The next day the jacuzzi room was ready when we try to use a Jacuzzi we quickly realize that there was no hot water. We realize late so there was nobody at the counter that could help us they gave us controllers to use for TV but none of them had batteries on them we asked them and they gave us another set of controllers without batteries again. Imagine coming tired from a full day of hiking and traveling only to realize that there's no ventilation system in your room and no hot water you have to go to sleep cold. Unless you're extremely cheap. Don't go to this...
Read moreI really didn’t want to write a bad review for this place, its awesome and social ,good space for playing games and having a drink, meeting lovely people and booking activities. The rooms are nice and clean, However, last night we were having a beer by the fire pit and suddenly the doors to the hostel common area were padlocked shut. The people sat by the fire had not been told of this and had their jackets/ water/ wallets things locked inside. A member of staff working this night refused to unlock the door to allow people to get their things. This was very inconsiderate as a friend from another hostel about hour and half walk away was left without his jacket, phone, wallet and key. This meant it was around 1.30am and my friend was abandoned in the dark and cold without a way to get in to his hostel. The member of staff was aware of this but did not care, he got in his car drove off and left the person stranded telling him to leave the hostel as he did not stay there. We all thought this was rude and unprofessional. Me speaking as a female would have found this very scary being abandoned at night, without a way to enter my home. Fortunately a very nice staff member woke up and assisted my friend in finding a place to stay. I dont think it should have got to the point where we had to nock on staff members door and wake them up when the problem could have been solved simply by unlocking the door...
Read moreI had an absolute blast staying at the hostel in Baños! It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home, even if you just arrived. The rooms were so clean and comfy, and the best part? The prices were as friendly as the fellow travelers I met!
Baños is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, and this hostel was the perfect base camp for all the adventure. From biking to hiking, and even bungee jumping – you name it, they got it! And after an action-packed day, the common areas were an oasis of fun. I was a Fooseball champion by the time I left!
Who needs a DJ when you have the hostel’s music playlist? It was an epic soundtrack to our daily escapades. Plus, I had some legendary movie nights in the cozy movie area, complete with popcorn fights!
But the cherry on top of this awesome experience was Sebastian, the hostel manager. He’s the master of turning an ordinary stay into an unforgettable memory. Whether it’s recommending hidden gems or organizing epic game nights, he never failed to keep the good times rolling.
And let’s not forget the breakfast – it was divine fuel for all our shenanigans! I can’t wait to go back and create more unforgettable moments at this gem of a hostel in Baños. Thanks to Sebastian and the team for making my stay the stuff...
