Wonderful place! My family and I stayed at Casa de Piedra for a couple of nights while visiting Mindo. We stopped by without reservations and were greeted warmly, and given a tour of the place. They were able and wiling to accommodate the 7 of us. We were treated to fresh juice out on the patio upon arrival. The staff were wonderful. They made an effort to communicate with my English-speaking family, and make everyone feel welcome and cared for. They helped us to organize our trip by lining up tickets for us to see different things in Mindo (I would recommend the night walk through the Cloud Forest). My grandmother and mother loved the hot chocolate that Mariela made from scratch. Mariela also personally took us to a tour of Yumbos, where we learned about the process of making artesanal chocolate. Pay attention to the negative reviews. Management of this facility is extremely rude. The service at this place is appalling. We booked thorugh the hotel's website. When we arrived they were claiming they could not find our reservation, and once they did find it they wanted to increase the price of the room. The lady at the front desk was quite rude. She got another individual from the kitchen involved who was also quite rude. Their excuse was that the website is new and they don't check it often. Even worse when the lady started retelling her version of the events she completely changed the original story, and lied. The discussion got very heated, and they said some very disparaging things to us. We had booked a room which was roughly 130 dollars the night, but regardless of the price I would've expected better service.
