This was our 2nd visit to Monte Carlo Resort and, once again, we were VERY HAPPY. The staff are incredible, they go out of their way to do whatever they can to make you happy and are so incredibly welcoming. The rooms are spotless, the housekeeping staff acknowledge you every day and ask if there is anything else they can do for you - Personal thank you to Bassem who kept our room perfect and made animals out of towels for our children everyday!!. The Lifeguards are exceptional! They watch over your children like they are their own which is a great comfort if you have more than 1 child in the pool. One particular lifeguard (Mohammed) even helped teach my Daughter how to swim. They really do care about everyone's safety and will interact and play with them while still being completely vigilant at all times. Another big thank you to Ahmed who played with a plane in the baby pool with my Daughter, he is such a lovely man! There is a huge variety of food in multiple restaurant's around the resorts, served at breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks available all day. Again, the restaurant staff are amazing. If you are sitting by the pool and want a snack, they will bring it to you. Omar on the bar was brilliant, he has a great sense of humour, always made us laugh and would always carry our drinks over to wherever we were siting. Bashoy also is amazing, he always smiles and would bring us drinks and food whenever he saw us. Inside the main buffet restaurant, I have to say another big thank you to the best chef in Egypt - Karam - He made us food that wasn't on the menu every evening. As soon as he saw us arrive, he just have us a smile and a wave and started cooking, thank you Karam, your a lovely guy with a massive smile!! We called him The Happy Chef! (Egyptian Pie is the best!!) Another big thank you to the cousins Waled and Waled who found us a table for 5 every night and made my children a special drink. They always made sure we had drinks on the table as soon as we sat down and welcomed us the minute we walked in. They were always happy to see us and we looked forward to seeing them every evening. Thank you both for everything. My final and biggest thank you goes to my friend Ayman. Ayman, you are the kindest man in Egypt, you work so so hard and you are the reason we came back to Monte Carlo 2 times. I will forever recommend this hotel to my friends and family because of the amazing service you gave us. You treated us like family. Thank you for everything and all the memories you gave me and my family in your beautiful country. I wish you health, wealth and happiness Ayman.
Everything about this resort is stunning, from the gardens which are so beautifully maintained, to the rooms, the only thing that lets this place down, is the sheer rudeness of the Russian guests that stay here. Unfortunately, they have no respect for other people or the staff or even peoples personal belongings, so my advice would be to go, but be prepared to be incredibly firm with the Russians here as they don't care about anyone but themselves. The staff unfortunately just have to put up with them and continue to be their lovely polite selves.
Thank you Monte Carlo!! Thank you Ayman (Restaurant), Karam (Chef), Waled, Waled (Restaurant), Omar (Waves), Bashoy (Waves), Ahmed (Lifeguard), Bassem (Housekeeping), Mohammed (Lifeguard)
Regards - Heidi, Shelley,...
Read moreWhilst I write this review, I'm sat at the side of the main pool relaxing and hopefully getting a tan.
Here for a 10 day holiday. Due to a delay at the airport we didn't get here until 0100hrs, however the welcome we received instantly put us at ease. We were warmly welcomed by the night manager, who ensured we had a welcome drink, that our case were dealt with and all the required paperwork too.
To our suprise we'd been upgraded to a sea/garden view room, which is huge. The views from our balcony are spectacular, the room has a separate shower and a bath, the toilet is also away in its own little room. The air con is one of the best we've had in a room. It's needed as even at night it doesn't get cooler than 32-33. We have beach towels delivered to the room every night and Mina our cleaner ensures that the room is always spotless. The stress and strain of taking your bags to your room is also dealt with. Golf carts are available to take you down to your room. They're also used as the resort internal taxi service. The staff are only too happy to drive you around.
We had a lay in, so as I walked to the pool I expected to struggle for sun beds. I need not have worried. There were ample beds available and in great positions for the pool and snackbar/bar. One note of caution, the floor is hot, be careful walking from your bed to the pool you will burn your feet. It is expected though tbh. The entertainment team are very friendly and never hassle anyone, there is activities in the morning and afternoon for all the family.
The food in the main restaurant is of the usual AI standard, it has a very Egyptian theme, but then again we are in Egypt. The food was always rotated and hot, the staff inside Le Cafe are very attentive and happy to help out.
There are 5 separate restaurants which are free of charge, you simply book it the day before and your given the full waiter service. The grill and the Chinese were delicious and a favourite of ours.
We booked a set of 4 massages, something we'd not really done before, I would massively recommend doing so. I've never felt so relaxed. The Spa is immaculately clean and again as a running theme the staff are so friendly and attentive.
We visited Hard Rock Cafe in Na'ama Bay, it's about 15 minutes taxi away. Mohammed The guest relations member, sorted our transport to and from there, he guided us to our limousine, not the stretch type, but as comfortable. When ready to return we simply called him up and within 10 minutes the same driver and vehicle were there waiting for us.
A couple of honest points to note, if you're coming for an holiday to mix with other Brits, then think carefully. This place is as multinational as I've ever been to. I look at it as a positive as we've met and spoken to someone many genuinely nice people of all nationalities
The evening entertainment is fairly low-key, and the shows are held in the amphitheatre near the beach, the downsides of this is there is no bar close by, and the heat is so intense due to the lack of airflow. I would like to have seen more entertainment up in the Lobby bar. It does lack an atmosphere of an evening, but we made our own entertainment though.
I know this is quite lengthy, but it is my honest review of this...
Read moreHad a really great week at the monte carlo. The staff were great, very helpful and kind. There were some selling spa and dive excursions etc but if you weren't interested just say and they'd move on, not too pushy.
The food was good. The main buffet had a good selection at all meals, it's not amazing but for the price we paid it was good and plenty of choice. Of the other restaurants we tried Lebanese, Egyptian and Chinese. The Lebanese was really good, some amazing bbq'd meats. The Egyptian was good though there was some confusion with what we ordered. The Chinese was ok, spring rolls were great but most of the mains seemed to be cooked in the same sauce, despite having different names. The snacks and lunchtime options at the pool bars were good, freshly made pizzas and burgers (chicken or beef), and on some days at the main pool they had kebabs. Drinks service was mixed, the main bar on the terrace was a bit hit and miss but the service by the kids pool was brilliant.
We spent a bit of time at the 'kids pool', despite not having kids 😂 but that's because it was quieter (travelling out of school hols) and had the lazy river which we floated round in. Once or twice the bar staff even brought us drinks to the river - excellent service. The pools in that area aren't heated, but it was 28 degrees outside so really not an issue. (Note- bring a rubber ring for the lazy river as there aren't any, a couple of kids ones but none for adults - we bought one in the hotel shop but paid more than we would have done at home). The main pool area has one heated pool and a couple of non heated ones. Plenty of sun beds, no need to put your towel down early etc... some shaded some not. The kids area particularly was looking a bit shabby, tiles on the pool needing replacing etc but nothing that was dangerous. There was a ping pong table and pool table that we used, which was fun (and free).
We visited the spa and had a Turkish bath and a massage. Worked out approx £30 per person, per 60min treatment, which I thought was reasonable. The prices listed at the spa are higher but there's deals to be struck if you ask.
The rooms are the only downside to the hotel, not a complaint as they are fine, but they are a bit outdated and could do with some love. However everything was clean, the bed was comfy and the room was plenty big enough.
The WiFi throughout the hotel was good. I'd been worried about it before arriving as some reviews said it was terrible, but had no issues with general usage, and even managed to stream a game of football. On the subject of football, theres no sports bar or even bar with a TV on site, but the TVs in room are showing most big European games.
There is an ATM on site, but we used the money exchange machine, which takes euros, GBP, dollars (possibly other currencies too) and gives a good rate (better than the ATM), so bring cash to exchange. Then you can ask at reception for smaller notes for tips etc.. on subject of tipping, we did tip but not all the time. We built rapport with some of the staff who have great service, who we then tipped and they were very grateful and continued to give us great service.
Overall really enjoyed it, and if coming back to Sharm would definitely look at monte...
