We recently stayed at V Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, and while the hotel itself looks lovely from the outside, the overall experience was frustrating and disappointing due to poor management, unhelpful staff, and badly organised services.
The biggest issue is the staff attitude and lack of basic customer service. Most of the staff don’t seem interested in helping guests and act like any request is an inconvenience. You’re expected to book a restaurant via an old, unreliable computer shoved in a back corner. When the booking system goes down — which it did — the reception staff had absolutely no idea what to do. No backup plan, no help, no alternative — they simply shrugged and said we can’t eat there without a booking, even though the restaurant was completely empty. It’s frustrating and makes no sense.
The rooms were another disappointment. The air conditioning barely worked — our room temperature was around 30 degrees, which is unbearable in the Sharm heat. When reported to reception, they sent someone who fiddled with the controls but made no difference. We ended up having to sleep in the heat for several nights, which ruined our rest.
Accessibility is also a big problem. The hotel does not have elevators — only stairs — which makes it very difficult for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. We noticed several guests struggling with luggage and no assistance being offered.
The shuttle service is a mess. No one knows when it comes. I asked staff, they didn’t know. I asked one shuttle driver and he replied “1” — which could mean anything: one minute, one hour, one trip left? When I tried to clarify, he just nodded. It would be so easy for the hotel to put a timetable or sign up, but they simply don’t bother.
Another thing to watch out for is the taxi situation. Some staff deliberately tell you that outside taxis can’t come into the main hotel area — which isn’t true — because they want you to use the hotel’s own taxi service, which is about four times more expensive. I confirmed with an honest driver outside the hotel that they can come in, and only then did we stop being overcharged.
The buffet food was actually good — fresh, varied, and enjoyable. But again, the experience was spoiled by rude drink staff who seemed annoyed when people asked for drinks. Also, if you go as a family and ask to connect tables, they’ll refuse, even though it’s easy to move a couple of tables together.
We called for laundry service twice, no one ever came. Asked for a price list — never got it. So many small but important services just don’t work.
The only highlight was one of the security guards on the morning and afternoon shifts. He was genuinely helpful, kind, and actually cared about guests. Without him, the experience would have been even worse.
Final tip: Don’t forget your towel card for the pool — no card, no towel, no exceptions. One of the few rules they actually enforce.
Overall: The hotel itself is nice, with a clean pool and decent food, but it’s completely let down by poor management and careless staff. It could be so much better if they trained their staff and ran it properly. Would not recommend for families, elderly guests, or anyone expecting...
Read moreOur stay at V-Hotel was overall okay, but definitely came with both highlights and disappointments.
We arrived very early in the morning (around 5 a.m.), and unfortunately the night shift receptionist was not very friendly or helpful. Even with small requests, he didn’t make any effort. Thankfully, the daytime reception staff were much nicer and more accommodating. The first day we were given a joke of a breakfast honestly. That's all i got to say.
The room we were given — a sea view room — was actually very nice and spacious. However, the first impression was tainted because the bedsheets weren’t properly clean and had blotchy stains. We called housekeeping, and the cleaner was kind and explained it was a laundry issue. Still, it should’ve been caught before check-in. After that incident they cleaned the room really good and made quite funny characters with towels.
The beach was the best part of the hotel — truly beautiful and we went almost every day. The infinity pool was also really nice, and the towel service was great. However, the beach and pool experience was affected by constant vendors trying to sell services. While some were kind, others were pushy and even made the experience uncomfortable at times, especially in a way that felt targeted more toward women. Not the hotel’s direct fault, but still worth noting.
The cocktails were another letdown. If you’re into proper mixed drinks, this isn’t the place. Most of the time, it felt like straight vodka with a drop of syrup. The bartenders at the main bar didn’t seem to know how to make anything beyond the basics. Some were friendly, but overall the drink quality was poor.
We had a frustrating situation with the TV. I wanted to watch YouTube or mirror content from my iPad since we don’t speak Arabic or Russian, but it didn’t work. I asked the receptionist early in our stay and was told it’s not allowed. Later, I found out from a friend that it worked for them, and I could even see other TVs in the hotel playing YouTube. When I brought it up again near the end of our stay, they offered to send an engineer — but at that point, it was too late. It felt dishonest and like they didn’t want to deal with it earlier.
As for food — it was very hit or miss. Sometimes it was really tasty, especially breakfast with fresh eggs. Other times, it felt basic and repetitive. Desserts, especially cakes, were not great. But the ice cream was delicious! The pizza, on the other hand, was disappointing: too oily and far from what you’d expect from a standard pizza. The restaurant Antika was a highlight for me — I really enjoyed it.
The beach sunbeds were also a downside. Many were broken or had ripped covers, and the adjustable shades often didn’t work properly — small details that add up over time.
On a positive note, the taxi service from the hotel lobby was excellent — very friendly and professional.
Overall, V-Hotel has potential. The beach and pool are lovely, and some staff really do their best. But between the cocktail quality, inconsistent service, pushy vendors, and small but constant inconveniences, it didn’t fully meet expectations for an...
Read moreI have stayed at the hotel for a week and have mixed emotions with my experience. First of all, once I arrived to check in, one of the staff cassually asked to send him a confirmation (which had my personal information) screenshot to his whatsapp, as I naively didn't think anything of it, turns out it was his way to "chat me up" later. Secondly, I have received a terrible room, with things broken like the door lock/toilet flush and surprisingly very, very DIRTY. It was very clear to me that the pillowcases were not clean but used. Also, there was dust EVERYWHERE, the bathroom was all mouldy, and there were ants coming to the bathroom out of nowhere. Much of it, I didn't let to ruin my mood and focused on other things instead. I have mainly stayed by the beach and other days I was on tours also, had a couple of days where I stayed for the nights show, but the sound is so terribly loud, nearly impossible to stay, you can literally go deaf, it's not distrubuted well withing the area and way way too loud. I didn't spend that much time within the hotel. Overall, I felt safe and comfortable travelling on my own as a female.|The food was not so great, and it is the same every day, and only 1/2 dishes are changed throughout the entire day.|I can definitely say the hotel doesn't deserve a 5-star title, it's more of 3/4 at best. |But mainly my disappointment came on the last night of my departure. As I have travelled alone, naturally some staff (mainly receptionists) would recognise me and we would have a friendly chat about my experience and what I was up to whilst in Egypt. As that evening, I came to reception and wanted to print out my boarding pass, as I was trying to figure it out, few customers were coming before me as I was not in a rush, two security staff of the hotel. Approached reception and were listening to my conversation, it was extremely weird behaviour, at first I thought it was a joke amd wasn't actually aware it was because I suppose "I was talking too long to receptionists" or some sort...But it turned out that they were there because of me! Which was mindblowing. I did not realise you were not allowed to talk to receptionists, and actually, I couldn't grasp what I had done wrong , as they hadn't said anything to me directly, but were hanging around and staring at me, making me very uncomfortable and confused, to the point that I was not able to even sort out the problem I realised I had with my flight, but had to leave eventually, as even a reception manager came to me as if I am being a nuisance to them. I would have never imagined that security instead of making customers feel safe and comfortable that they are there, make you feel the complete opposite and a threat. As a female, I found this was a very awkward and unpleasant experience that literally caused me stress as I couldn't sort out the problem I needed help with, and had to stress in the morning to...
