We stayed 4 nights at Novo Apart Hotel. Breakfast was exelent and the the restaurant made us a really good dinner with coconut shrimps. The room was actually a small apartment, no wonder:-). A litlle balcony facing the swimmingpool set in a lovely litlle garden in front of the restarant. The kitchen in the apartment was suposed to have a microwave oven and cutlery. But no, only a few spoons and a knife. Internet was good until the voucher ran out in the midlle of our stay. It was replaced at once when I asked for it. The room was OK tidy and had a safe.|The hotel is placed in a relative safe and nice area of San Salvador with a 6$US taxe ride to the Cathedral in city center. |There is always taxis waiting in front of the hotel. A driver with the nickname TaTu took us to the volcane park just outside San Salvador, (Boca...) where you can look down the crater and see another crater mouth inside it. We paid him 40$US for taking us to the place, waiting for us and then take us back to the hotel. An OK prize for the 3 hour service. He also drove us to the airport at 06:00 on a sunday morning. 25 $US. |We did take buses in daytime. The were filled with people and, but felt safe enough. You will see lots and lots of men with weapons everywhere outside shops and banks.|But I would like to say that San Salvador did not feel any more unsafe than a lot of other cities in the world. Take the usual precausions and dont flash your Rolex, then you will be OK. Salvadorians are wery kind people. Give a smile and you will get a smile. We loved El Salvador and...
Read moreAlthough the staff, with one exception, were excellent, we felt that the place itself was very overpriced. The room was ok, but at this price one does not expect the shower/toilet in-one-room combination, with not so much as a shower curtain to divide the bathroom. There was no in-room tea/coffee making facility either. Again, for the price, a minimum requirement. The wi-fi was also virtually non-existent, a very poor signal throughout the hotel grounds. ||Now to that ´one exception´. Returning at night, there was no security leading to the parking area. We had to unwind a thin piece of wire that was closing the fragile gate - no padlock, no sign of security. After parking we then had to wait for a surly nightman to open the hotel lobby entrance. He neither greeted us, nor asked for identification, but simply scowled and stepped aside as though we were most unwelcome guests. ||As stated, all of the other staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Security does need to be tightened, and a few more room facilities added. This could be a very nice little spot to stay in. We sincerely hope for a few improvements, in which case we will happily return for...
Read moreA decent hotel if you are looking for something economical. It's off the commercial strip access to supermarket, restaurants etc could be a challenge as the place and the street look deserted after dark. They have breakfast but very limited vegetarian options except bread, cheese and probably eggs if you are ok with it. They have a tour company on the venue but they don't open on weekends which is the most important and prime time. They don't speak much English and the tours are very expensive if you are a solo traveler. If you haven't planned your trip before coming you pretty much stuck at the hotel. Service of the restaurant staff is very nice and they are more helpful than the reception desk. Rooms look old but are big. Probably time...
