We booked 1 room for 2 people for 50 dollars with breakfast included, at 8am in the morning. We specifically said that we do not have cash and we will be paying with a credit card. The receptionist was very sweet, and he said we CC machine is not working and we can pay with the CC at 8am in the morning.
When we woke up we were told that there is going to be no breakfast, so the receptionist tried to order the food to be delivered. It was nice move, however, turned out he was ordering and wanted us to pay, which made ZERO sense, since we already paid for the room and were supposed to have the breakfast included. And btw, the reason why the breakfast was not ready was because the boss who was supposed to prepare it, was sleeping.
So, we specifically said, no problem, we will pay 40 for the stay and get breakfast somewhere else. The receptionist was trying to charge us 47 (40 for the room and 7 dollars for a CC transaction) which we were NEVER told about.
So, now we have a problem of NOT getting a service we agreed upon, but also getting additional charges because there was misinformation. But there is more.
He woke up the boss to talk to us, when she came out she started telling us, that Transactions with CC cost money, which is fine.. but the problem was WE were never told then at the check in. She started telling us how much she is paying in fees, which is NOT my problem. As a business owner, its your responsibility, not mine, thats why you ARE in business. She said he was NOT trained well, and he is new, and didnt know about the transaction fees, Again, NOT MY PROBLEM that she didn't not train him properly. Why should we eat the cost when we're were not given the proper information at the check in.
At the end, after 15 minutes of back and forth (without any proper Custer service) she agreed to our final price for the stay- 40 dollars without the feels. But she said she was going to Dedact the fee from her receptionist paycheck, which is HORRIBLE LEADERSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall, the place is not bad, location os good. But, the owner has Bad business practices, customer service and does not like to take...
Read moreThe location of this hostel is decent, it is only a few blocks from the main square and church in Santa Ana. It was somewhat hard to find even with the address and GPS, there i only a little sign near the door. We stayed in their private room which could sleep 6 in 3 double beds. The beds were comfortable, and pillows were fine too. The room was clean, but a couple of the furnishings were broken (platform one bed was on).||Upon arrival, before we barely got our bags in the room they came knocking to settle the bill, which was a very rude welcoming. When the credit card machine wasn't working they demanded cash, which we didn't have enough being near the end of our trip. The next day the machine was up and they put the charge on the card, but they refused to put the full room charge on the card so we could have our cash back for shopping. So, we had to hire an uber to go to a distant grocery store and pay all the fees to get cash in addition.||The morning we went to the Santa Ana volcano, our breakfast was a cup of yogurt and fruit. It was fresh, but not filling. The other guests that day were given 2 pieces of french toast. The following day, they served my son the leftover french toast from the prior day and it was hard and disgusting. If you wanted extra breakfast, like an extra piece of toast it is charged. They nickel and dime for everything possible, even a slice of bread literally.||The shower was cold, there was not hot water in any of the showers. They then offered my son a hot shower in a hidden bathroom near the laundry area, which was a nice gesture. When another guest heard he had hot water, she tried to use it and they refused to let her. ||We wanted to do a load of laundry in their machine, and pay for the water when we had our own laundry soap. Nope, you have t pay them $25 or something ridiculously high for them to do the laundry for you.||The whole experience at this hostel was disappointing. We are basic travelers, just want a clean comfortable bed and a hot shower. We would not...
Read moreCould have recommended this place if it was run better. Unfortunately, the guy at reception was new and unsure of what he had to do so he spent 40 mins on the phone with the owner until I was finally able to check in. She asked for $30 a night when the price on Booking for a double room for 2 people was $27 for 2 nights! Later in the evening she turned up and demanded cash right then and there without giving me the opportunity to go to a cash machine which is only 5 mins away. She charges 25% commission for card payments claiming it’s the banks’ fees, but I haven’t been charged any commission at all anywhere in El Salvador. I was left on my own to figure out the keys, the WiFi, the location of the bathroom, the kitchen and everything else. Then the issues started piling on with the bed linen being stained, having no hot water in the shower and a non-working fan in the room. I just started feeling bad about the guy who seemed to have been thrown in the deep end by a non-interested owner and was doing his best to solve the issues. There’s only one shower and toilet (together) between all rooms and the dorms and the staff. I used the kitchen to prepare breakfast and the owner and staff were unhappy about that and made me feel very uncomfortable so I spent my 2 days here hanging out in the room they gave me which wasn’t the one I’d booked. The massive cockroach in the kitchen was the cherry on top and if you walk into the bathroom at night and turn the light on, you’re in for a surprise with dozens of them running in all directions. A...
