Manor House Hotel Karolineburg — Hotel in Kajaani sub-region

On the way from north to south, we chose Kajaani as a place for the night. The homepage of the hotel gives a picture of a beautiful and idyllic mansion and from the outside it is so.||Rooms in the outbuildings range from quite a basement bunker to a mansion-style. We first got a room in the basement of the house opposite the main building. The interior is to say the least ugly and the sauna does not save the situation (picture of red furniture).||We got to move to a side mansion where the rooms are more mansion type.||A beautiful room but the smell of moisture and mold is something you would not want to experience in a hotel room. The pictures show the condition of the bathroom. The upholstery of the fine chair tears and otherwise everything is almost there.||The advertised coffee and tea assortment turned out to be a couple of tea bags and quick coffee.||In the rooms, ventilation is switched on at the clock switch, so when the time runs out, the air does not change. This contributes to the risk of moisture damage.||A rich breakfast turned out to be quite a basic set. The porridge was cold when the burners in the boiler were not on. The porridge was taken back to the oven to warm up but the bulbs were still not lit. Boutique hotel near the center of Kajaani. We stayed in the Karolina Suite, which had two bedrooms and a large living room, toilet and private sauna, as well as a large balcony with views of the manor garden.||This suite did not have proper air conditioning, so we slept with the window open. Fortunately, it didn’t get any mosquitoes in, so even in the heat, I managed to get some sleep.||There was a young girl at the reception who had just started her job and couldn’t really tell anything. We had three couples and she, among other things, directed one couple to the wrong place to stay. The hotel does not have a restaurant and we were told they have a partner and the restaurant is open. The restaurant was located 500 meters from the hotel. We walked to the restaurant, but it wasn’t open at all.||Breakfast in Karolineburg was versatile and quite ok with some local delicacies.||If you are disabled, the Karolina Suite is not suitable for you, as there is no lift to the 2nd floor. Rooms maybe a bit dated, but clean and cozy. We stayed in the guest house and only thing I probably want more from this place is sauna 😁 But for that I would need to pay a bit more for the room. Absolutely big plus for us was the kitchen and washing machine as we stayed for almost 2 weeks for work. WiFi was a bit weak in my room, definitely could be better just placing the router in the corridor and not in the cupboard.

Location is superb with a short walk to shops.

Edit after manager's response: would definitely come back and already recommended this hotel to other colleagues.

Forgot to mention the breakfast which was always fresh and decent to fill you up for a day. Those rice/potato mini pies were a nice...
