Was it the luck I had a pretty clean, neat and cosy double room, or was it the warmth and unostentatious care of the staff that made my stay in Merikotka warm and convenient in that "Finnishly" cold beginning of May. Neither I expected much nor I missed a thing in the hotel: all was in, all was comfortable, cosy and clean. Good and clean bathroom, shampoo and shower gel available on the house; magically soothing and ergonomic bed with the pillow that must have been charmed to bring you to sleep immediately you put your head on it :)... The breakfasts were simple and tasty, the guests could use the microwave, toaster, kettle and dishes at their convenience; the room was cleaned daily. Breakfast is copious but not particularly varied as one would expect in this price range.||||I love the position of the hotel right on a harbour and have had great times at different seasons of the year looking at the old ships and simply exploring.||||The Sculpture Promenade starts right near the hotel with weird huge ant sculptures and some more of second world war figures. Read moreHotel Merikotka is situated in a convenient place near the harbour. New naval museum Vellamo is only few hundred meter away (worth visiting). Also the center of the town is at walking distance. There was no problem to find parking place. Hotel is in the second floor of an old (1910) building, and reception is either there, or at the pub besides the hotel entry at street level. There is also a rather famous old sailor restaurant Kairo pretty near hotel building.||||Room was ok, nothing peculiar, just basics, a bit worn though, but clean. The breakfast was served in a breakfast room situated at same floor.||||Price was maybe a...
