Lovely, cosy chalets. Couldn't believe how warm it was. Had everything we needed, but looked a bit tired in places. Shower has part-glass and part shower curtain, which is a pet hate of mine, as the curtain sticks to you when showering. Toilet is extremely close to the shower, that it almost feels as if it's inside it. Bathroom was always very cold. Staff, however, were lovely and extremely helpful. Only a couple of downsides for me. The chalets are not serviced at all, unless you're staying for a week, and then they are cleaned once. So toilet paper and towels etc have to be collected from reception as and when needed. Although I cleaned and tidied every day, it would have been nice for it to have a proper clean during our stay, as floors were getting dirty. The beds are very high, which was good for me as I have a bad back, but the beds are very soft, so when you sit on them, the mattress slopes and you feel as though you're going to slip off. I nearly slipped off them on several occasions. Although the cabins are for 4 people, 2 of the beds are at the top of a ladder in a small cubby hole. They are really only meant for young children. It is a tiny space and you are pretty much on your hands and knees. There is no way an adult or older child could stand up there. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to sleep up there. But it would be an adventure to say a 5-year-old. The restaurant was nice, but a lot of fish, reindeer and elk on the menu. I personally struggled to find something to eat. Dessert is pretty much creme brulee or ice cream, and that's it. Sadly, the food was generally lukewarm too. But there's a lovely big buffet at breakfast, that pretty much had everything you'd want. The chalets and hotel are lovely, but it isn't really near anything, except other chalets. Although you can get a taxi easily into Rovaniemi or Santa Claus Village. Around 20-25 Euros each way. It's around 10 minutes by car, but I wouldn't say it was walkable, unless you're a very good walker. Not easy with snow, ice and very cold temperatures. Overall, I...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 nights over new year and had a fabulous time. This was our second visit to Lapland, we love it! ||Check in was very poor, we arrived around lunch time and check in is at 4, the lady said our room wasn’t ready but to return in a couple of hours and it might be, if so we could check in early. We did this but someone else was on reception by this point and he made everyone wait until 3.30-4 to check in despite the room keys all being lined up behind him. When we only had a short space of time there we wanted to get in the room and get wrapped up in all our layers and out into the snow asap! ||We stayed in chalet 74 which was next to the lake, it was perfect, lots of space, very warm, comfy beds. ||There is a lovely area next to the lake, this is a sauna and is an extra cost, we didn’t use it but there is a little cabin which sells drinks, a teepee with a fire lit and an inside seating area which looked over the lake. We enjoyed sitting here with a drink. ||Breakfast was good. We only ate off the snack menu once, very limited menu but burger was good. Buffet dinner was very expensive and was going to cost £150 for 2 adults and 2 kids so we decided against this. ||We got taxi’s into Rovaniemi and to Santa Claus village, very easy via an app. Roughly 10mins to Rovaniemi and 15 to SCV. ||It was very cold when we were there and even the locals were struggling with -35 the day we left. Foot and hand warmers are a must. We had frozen hair and eyelashes! ||We were in the middle of nowhere last time so it was good to be closer to amenities this time. Snowman World was much better than we expected, SCV very expensive in general. We did all the usual activities on our previous trip on a much less commercial basis so didn’t need to do any of this at SCV. Ranua Zoo was a nice day out, the main animals weren’t out but they are very focussed on animal welfare. ||I would visit Lapland every year...

We stayed here in the month of March only for a night but when I stepped foot I felt that I should have booked for more. The chalets are neat and clean, the staff at the reception are very cordial, well mannered and helpful. The restaurant is very big with some great options in the meal and great collection of Beer to choose from. For the money that you pay it is more than the value you expect. ||The chalet is nestled between a small woods area and in front is a large skiing ground and skiing slope with restaurant in the skiing ground that serves very yummy food. The staff at the restaurant there are very well mannered and friendly as well. The chalets are well equipped with all the arrangements and the vehicles can reach each chalet individually. The staff in the hotel are very well mannered and cheerful depicting the true nature of lapish people and their custom. ||In the nights you could take a small stroll in the property and besides the property and the chalets are well spread away from each other. ||I will give this place a 5 Star for all the aspects and it comes as a surprise as to how ell managed and maintained the place is.
