Well that was a farce :D
We booked a table (on their website). On entering the place it was packed but there were a few tables that were reserved. The waitress checked our reservation, i saw my name there, she saw it too, wonderful. Guided us to a nice table by the window, we started looking at the menu.
10 minutes later a group of people come in, i hear them say they have a reservation. The same waitress comes to us and literally screams: DID YOU HAVE RESERVATION. Er yes. HOW DID YOU RESERVE? Your website. NOT POSSIBLE, YOU HAVE TO CALL ON THE DAY. I booked yesterday. YOU MOVE NOW.
With that she turfed us out of the table (did not ask or even apologise) for the group of (very apologetic) Finns. Now i could have produced the email with my booking and started to argue with her, but hey life is too short for this. So we walked out. I'm sure the food is great, i have never encountered service like this before though.
(Edit) The restaurant has reached out to me and been very kind :) This was a 1 star review but the restaurant has done all they can to apologise so bumping...
Read moreHad absolutely one of the best - if not the best ever - sushi here in my life. The texture is amazing, the amount of rice is perfect and the tastes are natural. Price wise it was also the most expensive, but hey at least you won't get giant heaps of chewy rice with a small strip of fish like in some other places! Service was good and friendl, the woman who helped us was very kind and held customers in high regard. I did expect the place to be bigger and having a slightly less "urban yuppie" vibe but I guess that's just nitpicking because the quality is almost unmatched and it's Tampere were talking about - in a good way. One improvement could be to give customers instructions on how to order, with all these "all you can eat" or "X amount of sushi per round and order from a tablet" it was a bit unclear on how much we should order in advance, however we simply asked for the menu again and it was then nothing to worry about. We spent about €100 for two people. Will definitely go again, but not after saving up again to make it a...
Read moreDelicious and actually authentic Japanese Izakaya style food (and not just sushi). The owner of this place is Japanese and you can tell from the attention to detail in their food and service which is top notch.
The restaurant is very clean and the decor is warm and tasteful in a not-overdone "Asian restaurant" kind of way but honestly the interior a little bit bleak and a far cry from the cozy, crowded Izakayas of Japan.
I think this place has the potential to become something completely unique in Tampere and not just another sushi lunch/takeaway joint. Bring the cozy and the customers will come. I believe that the locals would also...
