Disappointing Dinner Experience in Tampere
It seems that in Tampere, there are very few options available for dinner at 9 PM. On a Thursday evening, we found a line outside Napoli restaurant — one of the few places still open. We waited, got in, and placed our order. For our child, we specifically ordered a kids’ pizza with chicken and ham.
At no point were we warned that the food would take over an hour to arrive. Had we known, we would have left immediately. When the food finally came, the child’s pizza had a strong and unpleasant smell. We encouraged our child to try it, but she immediately spit it out. We tasted it ourselves, and it truly was awful. The chicken was overly smoked, marinated, and heavily spiced — completely unsuitable for a child.
We wasted over an hour waiting for food our child couldn’t eat. In the end, she left the restaurant hungry — at 11 PM. Thank you for that. It was a pointless loss of time and money. We spent €100 for dinner for two, and for that price, the food should at least be edible and the experience enjoyable.
The service was indifferent, emotionless, and not particularly friendly. I’m honestly shocked that people still line up to get into this place. And more broadly — why is it so difficult to find a decent place to eat dinner in Tampere in the evening?
Overall, a sad and frustrating experience we won’t...
Read moreThis was the worst pizza I had since a while. I don’t understand why this is rated so high and even #5 in tampere on tripadvisor. I should have turned around already when I saw the menu. For the included salad there is not even an italian dressing (the hungarian dressing comes close, I guess it is italian with some paprika in it). The menu shows a lot of pizzas overloaded with all kind of stuff. Out of 73 variations there is no pizza that has only salami or only ham on it.
I decided to take the pizza salami, without ham (why this pizza even has ham additionally on it?). First of all, pizzas here have nothing to do with pizzas you get in napoli. Ignoring that, dough and tomato sauce are still very boring, the salami was ok. Basically all pizza delivery services around my home deliver a better (non neapolitan style) pizza than what I got here.
Also a lot is self service here: Getting the salad (ok this is common) but also the cutlery and the included coffee or tea from a can. The last I skipped, as it is again not really italian. Payment is...
Read moreThe pizzas were good. Nothing out of this world, but good. The place is really cute. However, the service was very rude. After waiting for the table for half an hour, we were asked if we would like to sit inside or outside. We preferred inside, so we were shown a table. We soon noticed that the table was between two other tables, basically one table divided into three, no safety distance whatsoever. When we went to ask the waiters if we can go outside instead, she said it couldn’t be done since “they don’t do that”. There was still a table available outside, and we hadn’t ordered anything yet, but they “don’t move people from one table to another, only from the queue”.
I find this unacceptable customer service. Inside was very noisy, not corona friendly at all, and our kids found it a bit scary. In the end, after asking many times, we managed to change the table outside, but the waiter’s attitude was very unfriendly “you know we don’t really do this, but ok”. Sorry to say, but because of the bad customer service,...
