Forum Marinum is definitely the best maritime museum in Finland. It covers a lot of the marine history of Finland. I'd say that is more focused on the modern era so a lot of the old stuff you meed to find in books. There's some olden days stiff for sure but I'd say like 30/70 pre-modern age/modern age.

Military, ice breaking and cruise ship content is in abundance. A few areas dedicated completely for ship building so that's interesting too.

There's a nice little play are for kids with a ship you can play in and a lighthouse etc. so will be a good place to visit with kids also.

Outside there's a handful of boats you can visit like the Suomen Joutsen frigate and some modern day military vessels. But just to let you know, access to those will bump your entry fee to almost twoce the price.

All in all well worth a visit and you could spend hours in there✌️ if in Turku and maritime history is something that tickles your fancy you should pay...

Hands down one of the best museums I have ever been to. The sheer abundance of ships to look at, the incredible amount of historical information about shipbuilding, use of (Finnish) battle ships in wars and important figures in maritime history is mindblowing. What I personally found to be the best part was that we were able to get on two ships. The Bore, a ship that has been made partly into a floating museum, was especially interesting. If you're in Turku – and even if you're not that interested in maritime history – you absolutely have to go there! I spent 5 hours in there but could have easily spent...

A very impressive maritime museum. Two large indoor exhibitions with old wooden leisure boats, objects, photos and information of shipbuilding, military and commercial exhibition areas etc... Outside there is several navy and civillian museum ships, you can visit. If you tour all exhibitions and ships, it takes easily 4-6 hours. The museus has a large parking area, a restaurant, small shop. The nearest bus stop is a few meters from the door. On a nice day you can walk from the city centre by the river. Guest harbour is a few hundred meters away. Also very short distance from the cruise...

One of the best museum experiences in Finland. It wasn’t exactly free for the kids, but it was worth every cent. We visited the place over two days for the same price. The kids just loved the Children’s Maritime Museum exhibition, and the ships were really interesting to visit. It’s a very comprehensive museum with a lot to do and see. Suomen Joutsen is quite unique, and S/S Bore was really interesting. The exhibitions “Working at Sea” and “Finnish Shipbuilding” were informative and well-built. A truly great museum visit.
