It's a funicular railway from Bourg Saint Maurice to Les Arcs 1600. If it were 300 metres longer it would be right by the train station in B-S-M but as it is you have to walk the length of the station. This sounds no big deal until you have a heavy suitcase of ski stuff and you then are faced with the choice of the bridge with only steps at the far far end of the platform or a long push down the station and then along the road. It’s fully manned so has the flexibility as off peek times to wait for the guy running towards it with a coffee and ski boots on, they waited for me one morning and I was really grateful, but certainly didn’t expect it.
