We had just arrived off the TBM and were on the hunt for some delicious local delicacies. The staff at our hotel highly recommended Le Refuge, and it truly exceeded our expectations. Located right in the heart of town on a charming pedestrian street, Le Refuge immediately impressed us with its warm and beautifully rustic decor. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, exactly what you'd hope for in a local spot. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, offering excellent recommendations with genuine enthusiasm. We ordered the raclette, which came with a generous spread, more than enough food! The highlight was being able to scrape the melted cheese directly from the block ourselves, a fun and interactive experience that added to the meal. To top it all off, we had the crème brûlée for dessert, and they flambéed it right at the table, a lovely touch! All in all, it was a truly memorable dinner and a wonderful introduction to the region’s cuisine. Highly...

If you are looking to experience the Savoyard cuisine, Le Refuge is the right place for you. This little restaurant offers a charming French Alpine atmosphere combined with authentically served local dishes. I would recommend going for the fondue with mushrooms, the tartiflette (a baked potatoes, cheese and onions dish) and the raclette (melting Swiss cheese served on a charcoal grill). There isn’t an English menu, so you might struggle initially if you are not a French speaker, however, just ask the waitress for the spécialités and she will kindly pick the best one(s) for you. You will likely need to make a reservation for dinner, either over the phone or in person around noon, when the restaurant...

We ate here twice last week - once as a couple & once as a group of 6. Both times the service was impeccable, the staff super attentive & friendly - finding a great balance that gave a personal chalet like feel despite being in a packed restaurant.

Between the visits & all of us, we had croziflette, tartiflette, beef tartare, the special of the day duck & veg, savoyarde salad & italienne salade - along with many Cafe Gourmands for dessert. Everyone saying all dishes were absolutely delicious.

Could be hard to get a table if you time it wrong (queue was outside the restaurant before opening!), as no bookings in advance (I think) and it's very popular (for...

We decided to go here based on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. As it opens at 6.30, we waited outside from 6.15, couple of other people also waiting, and once seated, by 7pm it was full. Note, reservations are not possible. We had the fondue which was cheese heaven! Once our bread and meats were done, asking the friendly ladies soon had it all restocked. The homemade creme brulee which was glazed at the table was also delicious. A party of 2, our bill was around €65 which included a couple of drinks. Highly recommended, get there early or around 8pm when the first sitting might be leaving. We'd return for sure! Merci beaucoup

Fabulous traditional restaurant run by two lovely ladies. Food is outstanding. No reservations (they dont need to bother with that), so turn up early if you want a seat, it's full up very quickly. Food is traditional savoyade with tartiflette, raclette, fondue, cured meats etc. Setting inside is beautiful with traditional tools and implements on the walls, charming and rustic yet very clean. We came once and were back a few days later, it was that good. Portion sizes very generous. Outstanding restaurant.
