ibis Arles — Hotel in Arles

At arrival we found out that almost no one speaks proper English at this hotel so if you have complaints beware...||||In our room we had only 2 towels so we asked for extra towels for using the pool but at the all we got was a "No!". After drying off at the pool you have to use your towel and for showering afterwards you have to use the same towel and if you want to shower the next morning you still have to use this same towel...||||Breakfast is chaotic and this hotel has never heard of "Routing" and other hospitality stuff... When you enter the breakfast room you will find clean trays (With 2 little bags of sugar. God knows why...) in the "thing"that every other hotel uses to collect the dirty trays with the dishes after breakfast...||||Only few hotelpeople know where someone put the Earl Grey tea, ), you have to walk crisscross along the buffet because there is no logic of what is where. After picking up the tray you pick up a plate somewhere, you walk to the end of the buffet for some bread, on the other end of the buffet there is ham and cheese, in the middle there is juice and everybody is lost because there is no logic ||in what to be found where at this buffet... For example: The butter is not next to the bread You have to search for the butter. It's put in a liitle black box next to cheese and ham... (No! I was not the only one who could not find it...)||||At the reception desk thetre is almost no one that speaks proper English. In the weekend we found out that a weekend help, a student, could speak English and he was the first person who we could tell about our complaints. Tea, towels, breakfast and only Frnch-speaking staff at a tourist hotel in a very touristic region...||||After 5 nights at check-out we first heard that it was not standard at Ibis Hotels to receive 2 towels per person per night... (I have stayed at a many Ibis hotels and I can tell you that 2 towels per person per night IS standard and not only at Ibis Hotels but at most self-respecting hotels...) After this fairytale the receptionist told us they have a problem with the laundry-service. Unfortunately they make their problems the problems of the guests because of course they can walk into a store and buy an extra 100 towels for guests.||||Some staff really try to be friendly but because almost no one speaks English, the harsh "No!" for extra towels at their own pool, the strange breakfast buffet that lacks logic routing and normal black tea we really do NOT recommend...

We went the inauguration week of Les Rencontres, a famous photo exhibition and this was the last hotel available at a price of 150€/night for a double standard room with breakfast. The hotel is located in the industrial zone, 20 minutes walking distance from the town. It was infested with mosquitoes, but the staff offered a killing spray. The room was pretty small, only two towels were offered, flat pillows, no fridge to keep cold water or food, no amenities and bring your own hair dryer because the one in the room is useless. No gym, no restaurant, no vending machine only buffet breakfast and a kind of bar during afternoon. When we asked for another towel to go to the pool they told us that no more were available because they were at full capacity and they only had two towels per room... One day they even forget to restock the towels after cleaning. The breakfast offer was scarce and only one person working there alone to restock, obviously not enough. The last day there were no cereal and yogurt left at 8:30! Beware if you don't speak French, the staff will try their best to speak other languages, but they barely speak English, even the manager. If you are making me pay a 5 star hotel price you better offer a 5 star...

Niente male. Dato per scontato che sia un albergo situato fuori dal centro di Arles, si può, di contro, sfruttarne appieno la vicinanza con centri commerciali, ristoranti, fast foods, e persino decathlon (che ho personalmente visitato per acquisti urgenti). Dispone di un ampio parcheggio recintato, di una piccola ma gradevole piscina di ristorante e di bar. Non male la piscina, con giardino parzialmente artificiale: ottima per i bimbi ma anche per un breve momento rinfrescante degli adulti in cerca di relax. Non avendo mai fatto colazione non posso esprimere giudizi ma da quanto ho potuto vedere, credo che non sia niente male. La cena, invece, viene servita in un ambiente informale purtroppo senza tovaglia. Il menù è appena sufficiente ed il servizio piuttosto"svelto", complice anche la presenza ai tavoli di una unica e sola persona peraltro molto gentile. Nel dettaglio, come mio personale giudizio sui piatti ho trovato alcune scelte un tantino stravaganti come ad esempio "prosciutto e melone" che per noi è prosciutto crudo con melone a fette mentre invece è stato proposto sotto forma di insalatona di sfoglie di melone (poche) insalatina mista, qualche fettina di crudo e salsa dressing come condimento. Anche l'entrecote pur essendo piuttosto saporita ed abbastanza tenera, era (anche per un amante del genere) troppo venata di grasso ma soprattutto, accompagnata da patatine fritte (ok) da fagiolini decisamente troppo cotti e da una terrina di burro agli aromi....( Troppo per un cicciaio per metà Toscano!) Per non parlare della lasagna, alla cui vista il mio bimbo non riconoscendola come tale ha esclamato che non era il suo piatto e che voleva la sua lasagna 🤣🤣 ... Ottimo l'aperitivo (kir royale) e accettabile il vino rosso della casa (sfuso in caraffa) anche se curiosamente a prezzo praticamente identico ad alcune offerte in bottiglia. Ho avuto una camera familiare, ampia il giusto, con un matrimoniale, un letto singolo ed un divano letto: perfetta per noi. Sicuramente era una stanza appena ristrutturata ed infatti aveva alcune lacune come per esempio la chiave elettronica non disponibile (era necessaria l'apertura da parte si un addetto alla reception, peraltro sempre presente e celere), l'assenza di uno scaldasalviette (indispensabile), di ganci appendini (solo due) e di ripiani nel bagno (nemmeno uno). Stravagante e fastidiosa caratteristica, anche la curiosa inclinazione del pavimento del bagno che, abbinata ad una insufficiente portata dello scarico della doccia (senza box ma a vista, totalmente aperta), ha piu volte causato dei traboccamenti nella stanza, immediatamente da noi arginate con il tappetino. In dotazione, un dispenser shampoo/docciaschiuma gia aperto ma niente sapone mani (ecologico ma un po' scomodo). Naturalmente come sempre essendo fuori italia, il bidet non c'è. Un piccolo appunto negativo va ad una disattenzione in fase di pulizia nel bagno dove un piccolo ciuffetto di capelli è rimasto impavido al suo posto per tre giorni, sotto il wc, segno che forse, nessuno ha pensato di dare una lavatina o almeno una aspirata al pavimento del bagno. Intendiamoci: i pregi complessivamente sono di gran lunga superiori ai difetti e se dovessi tornare ad Arles, probabilmente lo sceglierei nuovamente, anche, oltre che per la favorevole posizione, per la gentilezza, professionalità, cortesia e accoglienza dimostrata...
