AC down in whole building. Management does not know when it will be fixed. They say they are waiting for a part. According to another reviewer, AC was also not working 4 days ago. I was not notified in advance (reserved last week) or upon checking in. Loud AC from building next door, so sleeping with window open is not an option.
UPDATE: the reply from the hotel very conveniently fails to mention that I was offered to stay in an air conditioned family room FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, then back to my original situation without AC, unless by some miracle they managed to get it fixed. How ungrateful of me, being so difficult and demanding!
After spending a large part of my day arguing with hotel staff, contacting customer service at Expedia/hotels[.]com and Best Western, I was finally refunded the remaining 3 days of my stay at 4:30 in the afternoon. All of this just to get refunded for unused days of my reservation when the hotel could not deliver what was promised, a room with working AC. Incredible! They still demanded full price for the first night. No offer to assist with an alternative booking , apology or anything. I think that says it all, and would stay away even if they get the AC up an running again.
UPDATE2: Forgot to get invoice for reimbursement at work (was business trip), and had to go back. Staff at front desk and manager apologized, blamed it on miscommunication. I got a full refund for my one night. AC seemed to be working in lobby, but I would double-check...
Read moreA long weekend in Paris for 2 at a reasonable rate. We booked a 'job lot' which included return Eurostar to London and 3 nights B&B at the Syjac. Definitely a no frills hotel although the staff were friendly and helpful. Our rather odd two-tier bedroom would have been insufferably hot in the summer and, due to the extremely noisy outlook, impossible to open the window and get a good night's sleep. Facilities were basic; the bed not particularly comfortable and no food or snacks available except a reasonable breakfast with limited choice although plentiful. Its location is just too far for a short Paris break - and although taxis are much cheaper than London, the metro is a good 15 minutes walk away and the bus ride 45 minutes meandering through suburban Paris. La Defense is deserted at weekends so rather soulless, but we nevertheless found a couple of good bistrots. Plus sides are its proximity to Neuilly and La Jatte - all under-rated in tourist terms and La Grande Arche in La Defense itself - although this is now rather tired, it's still an impressive building and worth going to the top (in the lift!) for the view straight down Champs Elysees and beyond. In short - unrepeatable and only if you can't find value...
Read moreWell my sister and I only had one night at this hotel but I must say what a sweet experience we had with the staff there. We were greeted with such kindness and were checked in with ease and were given instructions on how to get fresh water from the water dispenser by the bar (a happy surprise for us) and restaurant recommendations. And though the room was small and nothing super fancy it is what we expected in this price range and it was clean and comfortable and we really actually loved the location because the neighbourhood had so many cute little stores and restaurants around and points of interest so I can comfortably recommend this to you if you are on a budget but still want comfort and quality and especially a very pleasant staff. Thank you so much to the wonderful women who helped us. We will always remember your kind...
