Europ'Hotel — Hotel in Bergerac

I stayed here with my daughter for a last minute trip. We looked at different options but once we knew a heatwave was coming a hotel with air con and a pool was most appealing. This hotel did not let us down. We were able to leave our bags at reception before check in so we could wander around the town without our big bags. At check in the staff showed us everything we needed and gave us a map of town. The staff we met (3 at reception and the cleaner) were so friendly and helpful. We didn't need to ask anything but I always felt that I could. My French is sadly not great but the staff made a real effort with great patience to explain things to me in English. The room was exactly as described and clean and modern shower. The cleaner was available everyday for making up the room. The air con worked really well and we were in need of it as it was 40° outside. The pool is big and has a shallow and deep end. We spent the afternoon cooling off in there and sitting on the beds around the pool and it was fantastic. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but it was offered and available. This hotel is in a great location easy walking to the old town and everything you'd want to see and do. There are bakeries nearby and an intermarche within walking distance. Misleading Pet-Friendly Advertisement - Ver confusing - the hotel advertised on their own website and on various platforms as pet friendly and accepting one dog per room for an additional fee of 5euro per night, however when booking via its own website, received message saying the hotel does not accept dogs at all.

Follow-up after Owner's Response: Google Review is fair as it takes the booking experience into account for hotel reviews. The advertising of pet-friendly of this hotel is misleading: there are no warning on the website or the various platforms. The email reply from the hotel was one sentence simply "we do not accept dog in our hotel" with no further explanation - How rude! Now the response of the owner assured me that we are fortunate not to stay in this hotel.

The rating of stars could be better if only the hotel made an apology and provided evidence of changing the advertisement on...

If I could have put zero score I would have and the reason for that is we checked the hotel website for prices and then called to book the cheap room for €45 (twin no air con with bath) only to be charged €69 the following morning. Whilst pointing the website offer out on our phone to the receptionist he rudely swiped away my hand and dismissed our comments saying he told us the price over the phone when we booked. Be careful as it seems the price changes on the day!! The hotel itself was basic, noisy and although we actually had a shower there was no curtain and the bathroom floor ended up like a swimming pool and smelled damp.
