My husband & I booked a last minute short break for our first visit to Chamonix. We could not have been happier with the Chalet Jumelles. It is a beautiful, traditional chalet with a lovely open plan, eating area, comfortable lounge with open fire, with magnificent views over Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi . There is a lovely terrace to sit on and admire the view. It is a short walk in to the centre of Chamonix. Our room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. ||Best of all were the chalet hosts, Jean Yves and Justine. You will not find better hosts anywhere! They could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable, they go above and beyond the call of duty. Jean Yves along with being knowledgeable about the area , the town and the skiing, also delivers you to your ski area of choice and then picks you up at the end of the day - no bus to wait for and no walking for miles in ski boots - it was a fantastic service. Not only are the couple delightful, entertaining and knowledgeable on top of all that you get the best chef I have ever had in a chalet , Justine could compete with some of the best chefs around - the food was utterly delicious, and beautifully presented, maybe it was just as well we only had two nights eating in or my waistline would have suffered!Of course it is all washed down with some excellent French wines. I can not praise this couple and the chalet enough. We are already talking about when we can return...

Read moreOur ski group has been doing 2 trips a year for over 30 years. The second, usually in March, is branded as "The Posh Weekend", normally in a posh hotel in a posh resort. This year the helpful people at Ski Weekend recommended we try Chamonix and their chalet there, Chalet Jumelles run by Jean Yves and JJ. ||||It's unusual for us to do a chalet for less than a week, and for us to share with other guests, but we were in for a surprise. The other guests, three serious sports ladies, were great company and the chalet hosts could not have been better. JJ produced a series of gourmet meals and Jean Yves was on hand to take care of every detail including some serious wines from his hidden supply. ||||Chamonix is a spread-out resort and transport is essential but wherever we wanted to go, Jean Yves took us, including a trip into Italy (Cormayeur) when the Chamonix lifts were closed due to high winds. ||||The 2 rooms on the top floor are roomy and private with lots of storage. The other 4 rooms are better than average in terms of size and comfort, all with private bathrooms. ||||Very highly...
