On arrival the stair carpets not cleaned, living area not presented and cleaned anywhere near the advertised photos presenting the accommodation. Beds and bedding uncomfortable and basic. Bathroom standard of fittings poor mis matched grouting, toilets not clean and toilet seats not fitting properly. Bathrooms weren’t cleaned throughout stay, and no products provided for self cleaning. Tables covered in ghastly plastic table cloths, like children would expect, but not appropriate for adults. Wine provided with meals is the cheapest possible, and not appropriate with the food served. We requested ski passes, in advance, for collection early on the morning the family were due to arrive and stay, but these were not prepared and ready for collection as requested and agreed by Stanfords. We had organised ski coaching to start at 9:00, but as the passes were not printed and ready it cost us significant money on ski instruction, for 8 people. When the passes were finally issued further mistakes were made, including passes requested for 7 days were issued for 6 days. The standards of accommodation are incredibly basic and John Stamford was not prepared to address and account for the mistakes made with passes appropriately, when it was raised; merely explaining “you were not charged for the 7 day pass” as if that is acceptable. No apology or accountability, when more time as wasted returning to the box office while other guests ski. Standards of accommodation and service are poor. If you book you need to realise how basic your stay will be and that the Stanfords are not interested in offering any creature comforts or high...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at this chalet, it was clean and near to the slopes. Staff made us feel welcome and luckily we had a really nice bunch of guests staying the same week as us. Food was very good for what you would expect in a chalet of this rating and we enjoyed a hot breakfast each morning. This comprised of sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs or smoked salmon and eggs, alternating as the week went on. The wine on the tables in the evening was average and if you want to drink something nicer it's only €10 a bottle from the chalet bar. All drink was very reasonable from the bar €2 for a bottle of beer and €3.50 for a gin and tonic. This is super cheap compared to the steep prices on the slopes and in town where you can expect to pay anything from €6-12 for 50cl of beer. Ouch!!! Mains on the slope at lunch time cost around €15-20 and soup costs around €10-15 so it's good to fill up at breakfast. |Megève is a beautiful place and the town is lovely to look around with little boutique shops. The only down side is how low Megève is at 1100m which meant that snow was pretty slushy at the bottom by the end of the day. In fact we didn't have great conditions, it was either too hot and slushy or a complete white out with high winds and the lifts were closed. Still we did have 2 good ski days in the week. Just to note that they didn't seem to piste the slopes that much?? ||Overall we had a really good holiday and would recommend for comfort, closeness to slopes, cleanliness, good food, lovely town and a beautiful ski area. ||Just hope if we get to come again that there's a bit more snow next...
Read moreWe have just returned from a stay at this friendly chalet. We won the holiday and had never been to Megeve so it was great to experience something new. The Chalet was comfortable and cosy, we had a double room with en-suite, now we usually miss our shower when we go away but the one we had was great. Our boys had a spacious room next door with great views of the mountains from their balcony. Vlad was a fab chef and we still want to know how he cooked that lamb, it was divine. All the staff was welcoming and lovely and made our stay extra special as they did with all the guests. The communal lounge is a great place to get to know fellow guests and we got a good bunch, such a laugh. I would recommend the skiing to beginners and intermediates, they seemed to have a great set up for children who are just starting on their skiing journey. The town is very picturesque and great for window shopping, say no more! Thank you Stanford Skiing for the raffle...
