Campanile Brive La Gaillarde Ouest — Hotel in Brive-la-Gaillarde

As I wasn't the one paying the bill, I cannot comment on whether this hotel was value for money or not. I only stayed one night and I was generally pretty happy. My room was accessed from an external balcony, so not ideal as it was raining pretty much most of the time. The room was adequate, the bed was comfortable, the room clean and warm. My only complaints were that the TV didn't work, so I was stuck with one channel - not a problem as I'm not a TV fan - and I was forced to seek help from reception as I couldn't get the bathroom lights to work. Better than expected. Rooms are big enough, they are clean, even if there are signs that the place could use some refurbishment. Heating was ok, the hot water in the bathroom was ok, the place looks like it is taken care of. Not very pretentious. The food was unbelievably good! Well cooked, does not take too long to get at the table. There are several courses of the day, pretty cheap, you can choose any of them, they are delicious. My husband and I stayed here recently for a nearby family wedding. This is a dated hotel in need of a refit,however the air conditioning was a life saver in the heatwave which coincided with our trip. Bed linen clean but only one towel changed each day. ||Tea and coffee tray not replenished we ended up buying our own teabags . I definitely would not recommend staying more than one or two nights . The best thing by far was the lovely breakfast and the most charming and helpful staff in the reception area.I was able to practice my French and speak English...
