Pretty bad experience right from the start. Receptionist lady was super unfriendly, no recognition of the loyal Gold status, had to remind about a welcome drink, room key card was provided in a well used paper sleeve.||Hotel has been renovated a few years ago, however management didn't even bother to update the Accor website or Tripadvisor profile with the new room designs. Bathrooms were redone completely while rooms just had some art painted on the walls.||Triple room was essentially a new ibis Budget spec (we stayed in the ibis Budget Cognac just before and the room there was exactly the same as this one, for the half price) with a tiny window and the 3rd bed folded into closet. Extra bed was not made despite having a reservation for 3 people and the same receptionist lady just advised that we shall take care of that ourselves. This hotel had 3 stars on the facade, by the way and was charging more that 100 EUR/per night.||After some complaining we got our room changed to a family room for the 2nd night, that had double bed, proper single bed and a bunk bed. This room was noticeably larger, however the bathroom was the same size and there was only 1 tiny trash can. In addition to that a toilet was cracked, but nobody in the hotel seemed to care about that.||Similar approach continues with breakfast - it's advertised as free, however they charged us extra 5 EUR per night for kids breakfast. Breakfast has a variety of items, however the quality is poor - the food is from LIDL (even had LIDL logos) and the cutlery is from IKEA.||Overall, I can not recommend this hotel at all - you are paying a top dollar for the basic economy...
Read moreThis was our third visit to this Hotel. We chose to stay here because of the close proximity to A20 and the large supermarket and fuel station nearby. There is large disruption going on in the car park currently where it looks like a restaurant is being built there ( Courtepaille?). Fortunately the building works did not have any impact on the Hotel. Our room was on the second floor and was quiet. The carpet outside the room is split and is a trip hazard. The room itself was clean with the welcome addition of a bottle of water and some Haribos. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels in the shower room. Dinner was chaotic with too many diners and not enough serving staff. The food when it arrived was delicious as usual so no complaints about that. We decided to let the workers have their breakfast before we went down and we were alone down there with no serving staff to be found. The food was picked over and not replenished for anyone coming after 8.45. Disappointing to say the least. Next time we head south we are going to try the Ibis Budget Hotel that is next door and eat at the...
Read moreAfter a long trip from Toulon we reached Brive by 6pm. Roads were good and traffic light. Lovely countryside. Rather tired, but okay , we then spent an hour trying to find the hotel. In desperation we eventually visited the train station and asked for help. It turned out that the address on the official site was incomplete! With the revised address in the Sat Nav we eventually reached Ibis just after 7pm. ||The welcome was efficient, if a little brusque. The room clean but rather small. The evening meal in the nearby busy restaurant was nothing special.||The buffet breakfast was adequate. Then on departure we raised the issue of the incomplete address. Apparently the hotel was aware of the problem - unbelievable.||So, if you do visit make sure you put ‘ 3 Rue Armand Sourie’ in the SatNav. Maybe one day Ibis Management will listen to its junior staff.||This was our first visit to an Ibis. On our journey south to the Med we used Campanile as usual. There was one next door - I expect their address was correct!||So next stop Ibis Saumur. Will we find it?...
