The Originals City, Hôtel L'Iroko, Aix-les-Bains Grand Port — Hotel in Chambéry

Turned up on an afternoon that was ridiculously hot even for this location at this time of year. Car park small but just about navigable. Room not huge but bed large and comfy. Aircon controls present but didn't appear to operate anything. Ceiling fan did work and was just up to the task of keeping things bearable. There was however a very welcome balcony with chairs and table where it was pleasantly cool.

The Manageress was extremely pleasant and helpful and recommended we reserve if we wanted to eat anywhere local that evening. To be honest we should have booked the previous day to get a table outside and with an ambient temperature below 40°.

Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and we will happily stay here if we visit ALB again. Scores 4 rather than 5 for the disappointment of the aircon...

My first hotel stay was 55 years ago. Since then I have overnighted some thousands of nights in hotels, and there is always a first. My first now is to be asked to WASH THE DISHES and GLASSES that we used. We paid 139 € + city tax and 15 € for a very limited breakfast. The bed in the room was quite good. There was a phone charging by the side of the bed, that did not work. There was a fan above the bed that did not work and the aircondition always raised the temperature tha we put in and turned of automatacally after some time. We arrived quite lait after a long drive, so we did not turn around when we smelled the incense sticks when we came into the loby. My experiance is that incense sticks are only used when you are hiding...

Nice hotel near the water. Room had two balconies (not necessarily water views). It also had a ceiling fan - great for creating a breeze particularly with leaving the balcony doors open. Wireless charging available in the room and it works! Really nice breakfast available, warm croissants, yogurt selection and make your own eggs. We had bikes and were able to store them in the garage (seems common to do so). Plenty of restaurants within walking distance - recommend checking out the ones not on the waterfront for better food. Hotel also provided a couple of free sodas in the minibar plus there's an espresso machine...
