Below basic hotel. No hair dryer in room (had to ask for one), no blanket on the bed--just a sheet (had to ask for one), few towels, no tissues, teeny tiny trash can in the bathroom, no clock, TINY bathroom (door hits toilet), and no peephole in the door for safety. Phone didn't work, just a staticky sound.
My bathroom sink was clogged from the get-go...fills up just after washing my hands. The free wi-fi was a joke, with speeds reminiscent of the '90s. The heater and air conditioning do not work... neither the radiators nor the wall unit. Really needed the heater because it was very cold and rainy during my stay. No working bathroom fan so the entire room steams up after a shower.
One of the staff members seemed annoyed when I asked for basic things that should already have been in the room.
Bright spots: good breakfast, comfy bed and pillows, good water pressure in the shower, USB ports on the nightstand, and (mostly) nice staff.
Overall, I would not have picked this hotel if I was traveling outside of a tour group. Staff is clearly shorthanded...
Read moreHow this hotel is rated a 4 star hotel is really beyond me. The only valuable thing is the position in the town, really close the the cathedral and the nice city centre. Somehow the rooms are decent in terms of space and forniture (they must have been refurbished quite recently), but the cleaning of the rooms is approximate at best. Just 1 towel per guest, no complimentary bathroom products, no kettle, no minibar, no refrigerator (even an empty one) AND clearly no clean / fresh sheets in the bed. I could have called for a change but it was 11 pm when I realized that my bed was not exactly smelling clean and fresh. Breakfast: barely decent choice of products in quantity, the quality is medium to low, the croissants are clearly industrial (... in France?) but the "Dirty Hotel Award goes to".... dishes and cups: dirty - dirty - dirty. Period. By no mean this is a 4 star hotel, but being below any cleanness standard when it comes to dishes, cups and glasses is unacceptable for ANY...
Read moreQuite nice Hotel.
It's cheaper in comparisson with other Chartres hotels. They hace a prívate parking 8€/day and a 13,50/person breakfast. Very expensive because it's very simple and small.
The Hotel staff was very kind and patient with foreign people (as me) and helped us in every single doubt we asked them.
A triple room is big enough. Clean, air-conditioner/heat, a small fridge and a simple, but enough bathroom.
The Hotel is VERY centric. Walking: one minute to the train station, five to the Cathedral, ten to the main theatre (there are a few), ten to the main market and twenty to many others monuments are worth visiting.
If I came to Chartres, I would come to this Hotel again. I actually recommend it to those that are looking to spend two or three days...
