Le Clos de Mansart should be on the cover of every travel magazine, and in every travel guide as a special place to stay! C’est parfait! A slice of paradise.
Overview: Nanou is an incredible host. The property is beautiful - the rooms, the breakfast area, the pool and the grounds. Nanou set out to create a tranquil place to provide an escape from the daily grind of working life. She did just that, and so much more.
Room: our room was stylish, well designed, very comfortable and cool.
Pool/grounds: everywhere is incredibly clean and very well kept. The grounds are really spacious and pretty: I loved the olive trees, playing pétanque, the tortoises and the chickens (which provided the breakfast eggs!). The pool and the outdoor lounge were stunning.
Breakfast: the food was delicious. I especially loved the free range eggs, home made jams and excellent pastries / breads. Everything was very fresh and beautifully presented.
Area: Grimaud is a beautiful village a short (uphill) walk away. We found fabulous restaurants, a great bar, and even better cocktails! We ate in a number of restaurants recommended by Nanou: they were all different and all special in their own way. We went to a stunning beach outside of St Tropez where the water was gin clear and enjoyed the sheltered swimming.
Special touches: I celebrated my birthday during our stay and she presented me with a birthday cake at breakfast and champagne to celebrate in the evening. I was very touched by her kindness and impressed that she had remembered this from emails we exchanged on booking.
Nanou doesn’t speak much English. I LOVED this: I felt like I was actually in France and tried to remember my French language skills from 26 years ago when I was actually fluent! It was absolutely no barrier to communication.
A wonderful, personal experience. I have never felt more at home on holiday! Please don’t book because I want to be able...
Read moreNanou was the most amazing host we have ever encountered! The detail of every aspect of our stay was so personal and perfect. I would compare this to an agri-tourism / farm stay in the way they produce for breakfast was incredibly local and mostly from their own land. We can’t thank enough Nanou and Patrice for such incredibly personable experience. Even though I don’t speak French, language was absolutely no barrier as everyone was so friendly, language wasn’t needed. The walk to Grimaud was a pleasure for us being a 20 minute up hill but when you got there it was something out of a fairytail! We can’t recommend this place enough. Ps: you might even get to...
Read moreThe host shouted and yelled at me in middle of night and also insulted me in French. I speak French and she did not know. She was aggressive verbally, physically and I was very scared . She would not open the door. She was awake because my friend just arrived to we spoke to her, then after 30 min she refused to help us open the gate and shouted and yelled and attacked me. I had to leave the property in the middle of the night, did not even stay one night. Was very scary and she did not want to give a refund . The room smelled horrible as mold and could not even breathe there. Horrible experience, horrible person as...
