I'll start with the positives. Rooms are small but are very clean and beds are very comfortable. AC worked great. Hotel owner is very nice and tried to accommodate all our requests.
The hotel is great if you want a remote hotel (means it is quiet and good for a nice sleep) but it is not as close to the main Croisette/beaches (25 min walk) as other reviews have said and it is quite an isolated uphill walk if you are walking alone at night, so we always took taxis.
The biggest let down of the experience was the breakfast, it is not like the photos advertised. Advertised at €15 a day pp, all you get is some toast, plain yoghurt pots and some supermarket cheese (slices) and ham, and croissants. For the price, you'd expect some hot food like eggs, bacon, and a variety of French cheeses and bread considering you're in France. There were not even baguettes, it was just dry toast and this was really disappointing as we really wanted an authentic French breakfast. I think, with more attention paid to a pricey breakfast, this hotel could be excellent. Due to this, we walked 15 minutes everyday to have breakfast at the nearest cafe and we spoke to a few other guests who had done the same; at the very least you'd expect some hard boiled eggs for €15. I have seen other reviews that have a much wider breakfast selection so it makes me wonder why this was not the case for my stay- consistency should be upheld. Breakfast is a huge part of why we chose to book this hotel and we really were so shocked at how basic the offering was. No one offered us omelettes (as seen in other reviews) or the bread basket I have seen in other experiences.
The hotel is good for a budget stay but the breakfast is way overpriced for...
Read moreI pre-paid a non-refundable fee of $2k for a week stay during the early days of October at this hotel, which I think was excessive but I was afraid I might not find another hotel when I booked it, so paid the full fare. The following week I paid 1/3 that price to stay at another, nicer, air-conditioned hotel in Arles. ||On the day I arrived (Saturday), I pointed out to the hard-working owner/manager that the A/C was not functioning. She told me that since it was the weekend, there was nothing she could do but promised that it would be fixed during the week. It was never fixed and I had no A/C throughout my stay. No discount was ever applied even though I paid for a hotel room with air conditioning. ||Overall, the bed was very comfortable and the place is clean. The sink in my room was the smallest that I'd seen in my life but in France, many things are quite small, including the room. ||The food was nice and on one occasion, there was a tiny piece of glass in my fruit cup that I accidentally bit into (thankfully I didn’t hurt myself) and the manager was apologetic for the oversight. Incredibly, I was still charged for the breakfast. ||Lastly, I was told that the breakfast (which should have been included given the high price I paid) was $15 per day. When I checked out, that same person told me it was $18 per day. I didn't argue, just made a mental note that I'm passing onto the reader. ||I would not come back here – even at...
Read moreRight then! The reason we booked this hotel was because of the plentiful list of fantastic reviews.
Unfortunately, upon arrival there was an instant sense of a majorly outdated hotel.
Whilst it’s a lovely idea to have feature rooms that are painted with film scenes. It comes across as a little/ a lot tacky.
The initial room we were presented was badly presented and had a putrid smell exuding from the air conditioning unit.
We were quickly and kindly moved to another room by the extremely apologetic owner. Unfortunately apart from the smell this room had little improvement.
After deciding to get sufficiently drunk enough in Cannes we decided to return to our hotel room and sleep through whatever discomfort might have faced us.
In the morning we decided to have breakfast in the garden of the hotel which was very pleasant and decided to make our escape after paying the bill.
Our bill came to around £170.00 for 1 night. The room and experience in all honesty felt as if it was worth £40 -£45.
The staff in this hotel were absolutely magical and incredibly kind, it is for that reason I have given 2 stars for our experience.
