The Hotel Birgit tries to be trendy and chic. The rooms are rather small, but fine for a couple with little luggage. The bed was comfortable and there is a bathtub in the bathroom. What was missing were hooks for towels or a storage area for luggage, we lived out of our bags on the floor. In view of some points, I also think little of the "Clef Verte" standards and the sustainability of the hotel. Disposable cups were provided in the room instead of glasses and the food offered no sustainable and little regional options. However, there was no toilet brush - for environmental reasons?
The location at the main train station is convenient and the rooms are well insulated. The view from the miniature windows of ventilation pipes or the McDonalds is unfortunately not very inviting.
The breakfast was good. It was often cleared very early, especially on Saturday. For my taste, it could have used some variety and seasonal and more regional offerings.
As I was invited, I cannot rate the price. The rating is therefore without an assessment of the value of...
Read morePositives: Easy to find hotel with enough free parking. Location far from the beach and city centre, but very close to the main train station and to the main shopping centre Docks. Bedrooms clean and spacious. Comfortable bed. Great air conditionining. Nice places to hang out in the lobby (you could use your laptop, chill on a sofa, swing in the hammock or play table football). Toilets in the lobby area extremely clean.
Negatives: Breakfast was a disappointment and I'm happy I didn't pay extra. Ran out of cheese on my first morning. No eggs at all on my second morning. Staff slow to replace missing items (e.g. plates and cups), which resulted in some people using the paper cups for the coffee machine which are the wrong size and inevitably make a mess. The hotel staff seemed to mainly consist of young people who looked like students and seemed to shrug whenever it was clear that you weren't completely satisfied.
If I were to stay here again, I certainly wouldn't pay extra for the breakfast. I've had...
Read moreEverything was great and it exceeded our expectations! Clean and new rooms, with comfy beds! We especially liked that they had a kettle with some nice teas. They also gave us a water flask as a present, a small salted caramel and a tote bag!! The decor (light blue with some giraffe and hippos on the walls!) were very nice and made up your mood! Their staff was very friendly and smiley also. We also liked that they had some still or gazeuse water to refill your bottles, as also a citrus infused water to treat you! Their breakfast was very french and nice! They had some great fresh breads and nice local cheeses such as Camembert, Pont l-Eveque and Neufchatel! Coffee was nice also! If we visit Le Havre again, we would stay there again! Very near the public transport also. At the local parking just behind you can park free...
