Quick summary: very comfortable, clean, quiet room in a very charming, beautifully decorated town-house style hotel. Excellent breakfast and dinners on site - highly recommend to book at least one dinner here.|Easy walk to town center. Spa on site. Friendly, professional hosts and staff.||We stayed four nights here while touring the area. The hosts, Corinne and Laurent, could not be more welcoming and helpful - and great talent in the kitchen!||We stayed in room #1, Fleur d’Oranger, a spacious room with a very comfortable king bed. It overlooks the front street, but we were not bothered by any traffic noise. ||The room has ample space for your things - large chest of drawers, cupboard- closet. Large chaise lounge for relaxing.||The duvet was a bit too warm for us the first night, and the staff graciously changed it out for a lighter blanket. Bed linens and towels are of high quality.||The bathroom has a large walk-in tiled shower with a rain bath shower head. Shampoo/shower gel and body lotion are provided, and made especially for the spa and hotel in a light, delightful scent.||Waffle robes provided.||The HVAC is quiet and works very well, and controlled separately in each room. (Yes, we could have really cranked up the AC to make the room much cooler for the duvet, but a lighter blanket was a better answer.)||Wi-Fi works very well.||Parking is on the street or the large open-air lot across the street. There is a nominal charge M-F before 6 pm, ie no charge overnight or weekends.||The hotel is beautifully designed and decorated throughout the guest rooms, public rooms, and the walled garden in back. There is a separate courtyard building and pool, and lovely sitting areas among the back terrace and gardens.||The breakfast and dinners are very ample. Breakfast included perfect croissants, bread, often a tartine of some kind (salmon; ham), an egg dish, fresh fruit cup, freshly-squeezed juice, and good coffee (I’m tea is also available.). In the interest of not wasting food, you might advise Corinne about how much you want to eat.||Dinners here are expertly prepared, either real talent in the kitchen. These are 3-course (and often an amuse boule) menus where Corinne will ask if you prefer meat or fish for the main course. She will shop for this, plus the other fresh ingredients, and make a great meal. This was 60 euros when we were there. We had sea bass one night, and duck another - every course a winner.||Nice selection of wines by the bottle are extra, and reasonably priced.||Meals are served indoors and out as weather permits.||Wi-Fi works very well.||Parking is on the street or in the large lot on Rue Tourney. There is a nominal charge M-F before 6pm, ie free overnight and weekends.||It is an easy walk to the city center and other restaurants. You can rely on the hosts for good restaurant recommendations.||Sunday is market day in town. Libourne is a nice alternative to busy, touristy St. Emillion.||Due diligence: there is no elevator, but staff are helpful with baggage up the stairs. Also: there is an adorable small dog in house.||We highly recommend this hotel. We’d love to stay again if...
Read moreYou enter this hotel through a lovely door from the street, but no hint what lies within . Kind of like Narnia ! The Maison is incredibly tastefully decorated and lovely . Our room was very large , bright, with a very comfortable bed . The garden is beautiful with grass , lush vegetation , seating and a nice pool ( unheated as is normal in Europe, why does no one solar heat their pool ?). You can also rent out the elegant room with the large hot pool , inside . But I miss the best part , the owners and their family . Valentin is the (adult ) son who is a lovely man and treated us like royalty . He is a master host, and very accomplished at athletics and other pursuits . Valentin’s father is the chef , as you can book dinner at the hotel . The dinner was top rate food and service from Valentin, served in a beautiful room . Highly recommend . As we are Canadian , wood fires are dear to our heat and they have one ! So cozy . There is a smart , friendly , house dog : Leia , as in Star Wars . We spent every late afternoon in the garden drinking from their excellent wine list ( reasonably priced ) and playing with leia . Miss her! Valentin’s mother was a great host, also - Thankyou . An over used phrase , but you really are treated like family in a very elegant hotel . We rented Ebikes and went to wine tastings /chateaus , more fun than taxis! Thankyou for having us,...
