Sadly it doesn’t live up to the standard of Relais & Chateaux that we’ve come to expect. It feels like the hotel relies on the beautiful view, and forgets lots of small details that make Relais & Chateaux hotels so memorable.
There was no welcome note of any kind in the room - which is a first for us especially with them knowing we had a birthday to celebrate.
At the pool, no one comes to ask if you would like a drink. You have to queue up at an outside bar to get a drink.
The breakfast was quite frankly, appalling. €23 per person for what we received: stale and dry bread, 2 mini pastries each, one small pack of butter, a small jar of yoghurt and a tiny bowl of fruit. When we order breakfast at a Relais & Chateaux it feels like a treat, as the breakfasts feel generous.
At this hotel, it felt the opposite. €46 for the above, and if you want eggs there’s a nice charge of €8 per person - which was bizarre to see and approaching insulting.
The person who brought the breakfast to our room didn’t offer to take it to our balcony, he was in and out of the room in ten seconds. We carried it outside ourselves.
For context we just came from a Relais in Beaune and the breakfast was the same price which included about 5x more items. Eggs, ham, pastries, bread, jams, yoghurt, cheese and more. With great pride in how the breakfast was presented, on our balcony.
My wife booked a 60 minute massage which lasted 45 minutes and the masseuse didn’t know what she was doing - seemed that she was new/junior.
The staff in the front desk were very nice, but no one offered to collect our luggage to bring to the taxi.
The above issues were explained to the front desk upon checking out, with no solution or gesture offered.
To summarise, it was the low point of our trip; a poor experience and doesn’t match the price or the Relais &...
Read moreFrom the moment that I reach out to book I am treated very specially. Anne Christensen takes care of me whether I email or call. She understands what my wife and I need. We love to be spoiled. She has trained her staff to treat us that way to. The room that we got was spacious and well appointed. The bed is very comfortable. The pillows were really soft as I like them. My wife prefers them a little firmer and that is what she got. They provide water as much as you like. The views out of the windows is so romantic. The spa provided me with Clair who gave met the best massages that I have ever had. One of the four days I had a two hour massage and on another day I had a two and a half hour massage. The staff on the reception were terrific. Anne always leads the way. Diane, Sarah and Caroline were wonderful, offering their assistance always. Avner and Richard were the night team and they could not have been nicer. The concierge team consisted of Nicolas, Quentin and Loick were so helpful. Their participation began right after I made my reservation. They booked our pick up at the airport. They made and confirmed dinner reservations immediately. The breakfast servers, Olivier, Gauthier and Mathilde were kind and patient, especially when my wife wanted breakfast in the room. The General Manager, Emmanuel Lallemand should be very proud of his team. They are a reflection of him and his expectations. They all make us happy to call this home when we...
Read moreWe absolutely loved this hotel. It is in a beautifully restored historic building elevated above the historic quarter of Lyon. You wake up looking over the roof tops and church’s of this beautiful city. The staff were all incredibly friendly and lovely. We spent our time exploring Lyon and then heading back for an afternoon relax and cooling off around the lovely pool and the surrounding veranda bar area. The pool was a good size and perfect cooling temperature, surrounding veranda area and outdoor bar/ eating/ relax area had multiple options to relax in the shade or catch some rays while enjoying a cool drink. As it is elevated - you get the stunning view and yes you do need to get there - suggest an Uber home if you are having dinner out or with shopping bags, or take the funiculaire cable car to the top where the beautiful church is behind the hotel and wander back down to the hotel. After sightseeing you can wandered up the road or you take the direct route via stairs that are both sides of the hotel complex that take you into the heart of the historic quarter and one block from the river. The swim felt wonderful after a busy day sight seeing. Enjoy this...
