Elisabeth (the Queen) and Francois (the Gardener) have created a little Eden in Uzes. Fortunately, you can enjoy what they have created. You will stay in a large, airy room with comfortable bed, large, en suite bathroom with bath/shower, and free Wifi (spotty but workable in our room). Every breakfast you will find: fresh breads and croissants (we often ran into Elisabeth in the morning gathering fresh goodies on our early walks), homemade jams, ham, cheeses, coffee, and tea. Additionally, each day we were provided with a variety of special offerings: omelette avec asperge, a strawberry soup with blueberries, a homemade apple tart, etc. The woman can cook! While you eat to excess, Francois will be tending the roses, the ancient mulberry tree, and the small dipping pool in the garden. After which, he will set out the lawn furniture where you can enjoy a last cup of coffee in the morning sun or return in the afternoon for an apero before going out to one of the local restaurants recommended and reserved for you by Elisabeth. The only (tiny) serpent in this Eden? We could not figure how to use PayPal from the US to make a room deposit. (Elisabeth does not use VISA.) Fortunately we have friends in Uzes who made the deposit for us. There may be other work arounds you can find. What ever you need to do to make it happen, your stay in this idyllic spot will...
Read moreThis was the first time my wife and I have used a home stay accommodation as opposed to a hotel. We had been recommended La Maison de La Bourgadeby a friend who had stayed here previously. All we can say is - AWESOME!!!!!! ||||Elisabeth welcomed us into her home as if we were long lost family. The room we had was spotless, the bed extremely comfortable. The house itself was 5 minutes walk from the town center, so a fabulous location.||||Elisabeth also recommended some of the restaurants - the ones we managed to get to they were divine. Uzes itself is very quaint and small, but a fantastic place to spend a few days wandering through. All extremely highly...
