The hotel may look decent from the outside, but this was a thoroughly disappointing experience on several counts.||||1. Concierge walked into our rooms mid-day, without even knocking, for no good reason. Very alarming. When asked, she merely offered that she was checking inventory of which rooms were occupied, something she could have easily done by merely checking her reservation chart. This was just the first sketchy and worrisome behavior we witnessed.||||2. Incredibly unhelpful hotel concierge, who looks like she is in total panic at all times. We made a simple request to have access to the coffee machine before our 6am departure and lo and behold, not only did she forget this request she had agreed to, but also locked the kitchen preventing us from retrieving about 30 euros worth of groceries. We left fuming.||||3. My room -20- was a repurposed storage room, awkward in disposition and susceptible to patio noise at all times.||||4. Auto shut-off light means you are either showering in the dark or like you are conducting the Berlin philharmonic.||||5. On my last day, as I pulled out the sheet from being tucked under, I noticed an inexcusable blood stain as per attached picture. No comment. Judge for yourself.||||I am joining the chorus here in severely recommending against...
Read moreCity centre location, on a street adjacent to the Parc Roger Salengro. We managed to park four motorcycles outside, but only because the street was closed for roadworks, otherwise it could have been busier and harder to find a space.|There is a small reception and lounge area.|This is an old building where the rooms have been readjusted and adapted to accommodate an ensuite, resulting in squashed doorways at funny angles, and odd shaped ensuite with everything squeezed in at odd angles. Nevertheless it all worked fine. |Four of our party of six did complain about the room they were assigned, and one couple did ask for a change of room. The staff didn't seem to be too concerned in helping out.|Breakfast seemed rather basic, so we ate elsewhere.|Restaurants are aplenty across the park, where most had outside tables and chairs.|Nevers is a nice place, Hotel Villa De Parc isn't quite so, but for two nights only it...
Read moreA decent two star hotel. It is quite near the church containing St Bernadette's body (she's the one who saw the lady Fatima in Lourdes, France). That was pretty cool to see as the body is remarkably well-preserved. The room (#23) was good size (it was a triple actually). The bathroom was clean although the shower could have used a cleaning (there was a bit of mold). The hotel is on a main street but had double windows and shutters that blocked out noise/light. And the traffic completely died off around 2200. It's right across from the large park (hence the hotel's name) and about 400 meters to the tourist info and maybe 600 meters to the royal palace. Location was okay but not in the city center. Street parking directly across from the hotel was available first come, first served, for free. We biked through the city in the evening, then walked through the following morning. I'd...
