I’ve been coming to St. Maarteen for over 15 years and have family here. My favorite beach on the island is Orient Bay. This was my first time to the Coco Beach restaurant which is situated on Orient Bay.
The restaurant was rebuilt in 2020 after the Hurricane that devastated the island. The founders are Antoine and Vincent who have owned other restaurants on their own and have a winning formula. I love their philosophy “Top Notch. All the way. All the time. On every level”
Our experience was true to every word in their motto. We were a party of 16 and the staff did not miss a beat. My photos will tell the story.
The restaurant is set on a beautiful white Sandy beach with stunning blue waters. The service was impeccable! Caring, seamless, attention to every detail. The restaurant itself has a great vibe, you feel like you are on the French Riviera, beautiful decor, and they have great events on Sundays with guest DJ’s from all over that create stunning parties. One of the owners Antoine came by to see how everything was. It’s always great to see when the owners are hands on.
The food was AMAZING and the chef this season is a 2 star Michelin chef. If you would like to taste exquisite French cuisine at its best you have to come here. One of the owners Antoine came by at least twice to see how everything was. He was also genuine and caring.
We had several cocktails and had two magnums of a great 2021 Chateau Minuty Rose. We also had several orders of most of the appetizers. To name of them we tried a few which included the Ahi Red Tuna tacos, Caesar salad, lobster on a brioche bun, Smoked eggplant hummus and pita bread, and Foccachia bread with ham.
For mains we had the Coco Beach Salad which was delicious and had Mahi Mahi, octopus, quinoa, and greens. The rib eye steak, the chicken, the Thai curry dish with prawns, the sea Scallops, lamb and the black cod.
Too many deserts to name so please check out the photos. W the chef sent a few complimentary dishes for the table of a sampling of several of the deserts. Prices are what you expect for a high end restaurant on the French side. You cannot beat the quality or freshness.
If you come to St. Maarten you have to come to Coco Beach restaurant at Orient Bay on the French side. I highly recommend them and know the experience will be...
Read moreFood was good. We had one of their specials: duck pie with pistachios. I would have liked to know in advance that dish was cold one, not warm. But, the flavors, presentation, and execution were all on point. Pastrami sandwich was a little bit dry, but very flavorful. Service was slow, our waiter wasn’t very attentive, didn’t bring us specials menu, we had to place order with one of the host girls. Lady who cleaned the table was more tuned in and constantly on the look out..she brought us a desert menu and made sure we got the check when we asked. I would definitely recommend to promote her. Atmosphere was nice, lovely. Their music choice need a refresher, but overall it’s cool.
Now, review for the actual beach club. At 3 pm Sunday afternoon, I understand, you could be busy, but 25 percent of the beds were empty and “beach manager” didn’t even try to hide a big “no service” for you since we had no reservation. When I asked about empty beds, he said, those are reserved for people who are having lunch. I replied, we just had a lunch here.. I guess, his attitude and a need to make a point that reservation has to be made a day in advance were more important to him. So, he can have 1 star and we will not be back at his beach club, nor...
Read moreExcellent day resort. I stopped here while joyriding around the island in search of a beach to chill at for a few hours. Saw this opulent place.
I only stayed for two hours. But it was enough to unwind on the sands of a well-maintained beach with a good view of the Atlantic from the east side of the island.
Staff are very friendly, professional, and seem well-trained. I was checked upon regularly by my assigned waiter.
I ordered a light snack, the club sandwich, only to find out how huge it was. Sandwich was good and kept me full for the day.
Water illuminates to a deep sapphire blue when sunlit, and there's a nice blend of blues leading up to the shore. There are opulent houses in the distance, several hills with vegetation characteristic of this island, a large rocky mound from where to take photos and encounter interesting wildlife, and some distant rocky islands in view.
Beach has rather gentle waves, I could not detect any riptide channels, and I would have gone for a swim had I come prepared.
Highly recommend Coco beach for the views, food,...
