Hôtel & Spa Le Saint Alexis — Hotel in Saint-Paul

I absolutely loved my stay here at Le Saint Alexis, staying on a half board basis. Breakfast was enjoyed up high on the warm breezy terrace looking out onto the beach trough swaying palm trees, just as in the online brochure. Dinner was excellent (huge quantities!), and I particularly liked the cafe gourmand to finish the meal off. Staff are superb. The swimming pool is a star feature in forming almost a moat around the centre building. Layout of hotel is architecturally interesting and it took me 3 days to get to know where I was going, even though its a small campus! I found two little annoyances. First simply resolved: a nespresso coffee machine was in the room, but with an advisory that i would have to order from reception and pay for 9 capsules. Now I had just made a 26 hour journey overall from north-west Europe and all I wanted was to have a nice refreshing cup there and then without jumping through hoops to get it. Why don't they factor into the price of perhaps a supply of one capsule per person per day for the duration of stay? And a teabag for the kettle beside it! I've been in plenty of hotels with these machines, never came across this extra charge yet. The second bit of annoyance is the geography of the room: The toilet is in a separate room around the corner from the bathroom and it's quite annoying having to go about 20 steps to gain access to a washbasin for hygiene. Installing a tiny washbasin in the toilet cubicle would help. Also guests may expect to pay a refundable deposit of €50 for a beach towel. Hotel clientele, when I was there, were lovely quiet families with polite friendly children. It is a haven of peace and quiet in spite of quiet a few children present. ||The beach is a lovely wild breezy place, great for beachcombing and finding all kinds of treasure from coral pieces, to sea animal bones, sharks teeth, coconuts, lava stones. Very educational for children. Sea swimming is forbidden due to the great danger of sharks, the wild sea and currents, but a lovely sea pool formed by a wall of lava and enclosed by some concrete provides excellent safe swimming for children and adults, and gets very popular as the day progresses. It is life-guarded too.||Reunion Island is absolutely full of adventures to be had from helicopter trips, microlight flights, paragliding for wheelchair users, canyoning,exciting boat trips, small bus trips through incredibly windy roads into the cirques of the volcanic island. There's segwaying with cows, an aquarium to visit, a couple of towns to see with galleries, parks etc.||The Le Saint Alexis can be reached from the airport at St. Denis on Car Jaune (bus) Line T. Keep an eye for the stop and press the bell. It can get crowded with luggage and people on the bus, which only costs €5 for the trip and well worth saving on an expensive transfer. They only come about once an hour, so a look at the website will give times. Reunion is a relaxed, safe, friendly place, nice and laid back and great for a holiday with a bit of adventure...

We booked a deluxe double room EUR 269/ night in March 2019 for 2 nights ||We got a room where we could walk straight in to the pool (even if we asked for1st floor with balcony)||Great pool, that's for sure 5 stars||No pool slippers in the rooms ||No coffee or tea facilities in the room ||Minibar in the room, yes with 1 beer, 3 sodas, 2 water ||The hotel is on the beach, but you have to walk maybe 500m where you can swim ||||The bed is equipped with a blanket and bedsheets, we would expect a duvet and duvet cover||The rooms are sound proofed, but our door was towards a parking and the main road and you can hear the traffic. As well when someone is moving a chair upstairs it clearly heard downstairs ||||Restaurant is closed between 1:30pm and 7:30pm, and no room service between these hours as well ||Room service for food in the evening, try to order pizza, but 2 of the pizzas named in the menu were finished. ||Got an explanation that the pizzas are coming from outside. This means the pizzas are coming from outside in certain amounts and will be warmed up in the kitchen and when they get over, then it's out of stock. ||Is this a 4 star hotel???||||Bar service: ordered the first drink at the bar counter and you get it to your table, when you finished your drink, staff passing by serving other customers their drink, but there is no chance they asked you if you would like to have another drink, which is great, I'm saving my money. I thought part of the job is to sell more to the customers ||||Rest of the staff at reception, SPA and one lady at the breakfast were fantastic ||The reception staff and management made a great effort to take us to a local supermarket by their private cars (you can’t get a TAXI in Reunion for short distance ride???)||||TV looks like it was just put in the room just to be there (for 1 additional star!) with only BBC news as only English Channel, the rest were French. 2 people can't sit anywhere comfortably to watch and it's too far...

Прилетели 31 декабря рано утром после длительного перелета ( вылетели рано утром 30 декабря из Москвы , меняли аэропорты в Париже – устали ) при заселении предложили подождать до || 14-00 – это звучало как приговор ! Мы попросили помочь с более раним заселением , нам предложили по завтракать . От вкусной еды ( главным образом от свежих фруктов) настроение улучшилось . Не успели поесть , как нам предложили номер , за что большое спасибо администрации. Номер оказался большим, просторным с видом и на бассейн ( похоже все номера с этим видом , так как сам отель стоит в бассейне ), и с видом на море ( чуть с боку) . Номер с огромной ванной комнатой ( душ ,джакуззи ) и огромным балконом ( два лежака , столик , стулья ) . Это все радовало и этим мы пользовались , а вот через большую гостиную мы только ходили ( она нам была совсем не к чему ) . Номер убирался ежедневно , все чисто , не навязчиво . ||Я уже упоминала хороший завтрак , который накрывают на открытой веранде , если нет дождя . При дождике в зале ресторана .Завтраки полноценные ( много сыра , колбасных изделий , выпечка , хлопья , шикарный выбор тропических фруктов и соков ) Для тех , кто любит разнообразие – разочарую , кроме фруктов каждый день одно и то же . Муж пару раз пропускал завтраки , ему надоело . Курить на открытой веранде можно , кофе в кофейнике подают ( капучино , эспрессо отменяются ) . Работает бар , но и в баре варить капучино не умеют ,кофе отдельно , молоко отдельно и сверху еще и какао плавает ( зачем-то без спроса «типа» шоколадом поливают) , хотя коктейли делают вкусные и смузи тоже. WI-FI хорошо работает только в лобби и в ресторане , в номере ловила его только раза три минут на пять .Больше минусов про отель,наверное не наберу .||Поспав , поплыли в бассейн , хотя лил дождь, было тепло. В отели с 16-00 работает сауна и хамам , что при отсутствии солнышка для купания в дождь очень кстати. Сауна с фитнес залом располагается ниже уровнем , там специальные окна , так что видно бассейн с купающимися . Прикольно .||К встрече Нового года отель отменно подготовился . Мы подошли в ресторан к 19-30 праздничный ужин уже накрывали , другие гости лакомились ( хотя можно было заказать и на более позднее время , мы просто проголодались , так как обед проспали ) . Изысканные блюда сменяли друг друга . Все было очень вкусно , разнообразно , изыскано ( Шампанское не полагалось ! ) . Хорошее обслуживание . Весь вечер играла живая музыка , гостей развлекали фокусники . Внизу в баре ожидали дискотечники. Толи мы очень устали , толи переели к 23 часам, решили подняться в номер и до дискотеки начать смотреть чисто по-русски «Иронию судьбы» (привезли с собой) . В номере нас ожидали подарки : маленькая бутылочка горячительного для мужа , а для меня набор косметических средств SOTHYS, но благодаря французской кухне , я наверное впервые заснула не дождавшись не только Нового года по Москве , но и по местному времени .||Погода на острове в это время : то дождь , то солнце . В разных районах острова по-разному , убедились в этом когда ездили на экскурсии . Записалась в СПА при отели ( при такой погоде запись не лишняя – желающих много) . СПА большой , там приятная атмосфера , очень понравился массаж . Работают они на SOTHYS ( лично для меня это скорее минус при процедурах по лицу ) ,работа персонала на отлично .||Вход в море на пляже отеля не совсем комфортный – острые камни , лучше купаться в бассейне , а загорать на лежаке перед морем . Если очень хотите только море , пожалуйста , не сколько шагов до общественного пляжа ( там даже есть лагуна из лавы – очень симпатичное место , но только для того , чтобы…….. сфокаться ) . Пляж ( море) около отеля ( отель позаботился) и общественный пляж прямо перед нашим приездом огородили сеткой от акул , что совсем не лишнее. На общественном пляже памятник поклонникам серфинга , павшим от акул. Сетку натянули за 6 дней до нашего приезда. ||Ужины в ресторане отеля очень изысканные ( скатерти , приборы ) , хороший выбор блюд , напитков . Не смотря на то , что в меню не было супа ( а мне вдруг приспичило ) его приготовили – все для гостя , спасибо ! ||Ходили ужинать в рестораны , которые в большом выборе в двух шагах от отеля , там тоже все вкусненько и большие порции . Что всегда плюс отелю , когда есть выбор , где гостю поесть , что бы он не чувствовал себя заложником отеля. ||В силу неоднозначности погоды в этот период ( а вдруг целый день на пляже под дождем лежать ?) , три раза выезжали на экскурсии по острову , купались в водопадах , даже был предложен прекрасный шопинг нам . Все интересно, красиво , прекрасная природа , замечательные девочки-гиды из России , показали все , что именно нам хотелось .||Хороший отдых на замечательном острове в...
