2 holidays here, and it pains me to review the hotel as both holidays were very different. we've had excellent and terrible experiences . both really deserve 5 stars and maybe 2 stars for the other.
firstly wheelchair access for the buffets is awful. it's a locked door with beg for access. it's a complete pain and time-consuming.
the Christmas Eve event meal was very expensive and TERRIBLE. we waited in pain for 40 minutes with a huge queue of people all pushing and upset everyone in different languages complaining. we had to ring the hotel and got an off-site person answer who said sorry the kitchen is running very late. the doors soon opened to explain who knows what to the first 2 people and not a word to anyone else then closed again. meanwhile, the whole mood was ruined for everyone . eventually, when let in not a single non noel or merry Christmas to anyone, all staff were angry and clearly upset not a single explanation or apology all evening. the food was clearered by the mob in 5/ 10 minutes. nothing given or offered for what everyone had gone through. entertainment 🤦♀️ again. a band sang for a few minutes unhearable to half the restaurant Inc us. it was placed way to far away in a corner at the bottom. half couldn't see or barely hear them. it sounded like dull lift music. violinists played for maybe 5 mins while people came in angry and complained right in their faces. santa came around with his hair trying to hide his face, I do hope it was His choice as it felt very uncomfortable thinking someone would want to or worse, be asked to hide their skin tone. he looked really ashamed to be there and offered shyly 2 little chocolates from his sack as a gift to the smallest kids... that was also on the all you can eat buffet 🤷♀️🤦♀️ yay 😂 the food itself was good in most part the main issue was that anything worth having went very fast ans the meat like steak dishes were served very very rare as they are meant to sit longer and cook on the side but people waiting for the food took it straight away . so you did the same or went without. I like rare steak, but this was raw. the puddings were incredible, beautifully presented . the add online on their site promises surprises too I can only imagine they just lied there. when leaving, nobody said goodbye or whatever to us .. we gave no attitude there either, so it was unjustified we had travelled and spent a lot of effort , money and energy, pained to be there we had to make it work.
the good. it's hard because every plus I find there seems to be a negative to balance it.
some say the breakfast is bad, personal we found it great. not a problem with it at all other than access addressed above.
we had the same room 6 months apart and had different experiences with it. in June, the hotel was VERY busy, but the room was quiet and peaceful. in December, it was banging and loud constantly. we didn't sleep well from it. a dirty old travel cot in our room really spoiled the space. it had been stood a while there and we didn't require it. in 6 had treats left for us Inc., fresh fruit and macaroons juice and water. a welcome surprise, and we had really looked forward to such touches this time. unfortunately, there was water and juice only the room furniture was not wobbly and lose I had to constantly warn my kids away from a table and large lamp in case they fell into bits in use. otherwise the room was large in the summer and the winter comfortably temperatured . I was disappointed the duvet was the same and thin, like in June, perfect for the air con. not as good in Dec. Thankfully, we took blankets with us. soap dispensers are way too high for kids and disabled persons. showers are cold and underpowered. baths are slightly better , enough to get by but not enjoy especially in December. the lifts are good but (always something) dirty. the hotel is beautiful and the Christmas displays wonder but 2 broken chairs and a few of Santa's desk items broken. it was clear it was set up and not maintained over the season. pools were...
Read moreA very underwhelming and, at times, unacceptable experience during our two-night stay at this hotel. Whilst located in close proximity to Disneyland Paris (c. 10-15 minutes by complimentary hotel shuttle bus service), the location and initial appearance of the hotel barely reflect a number of inadequacies which were apparent to our own family as well as many others who were clearly affected and very disappointed by the very same issues.
Overall, the hotel is fit for purpose; tired in some areas but well-presented in others. Whilst we didn't get to use it, the heated outdoor pool and pool area looked welcoming. The lobby is large and well-presented giving first-time guests a sense of excitement and relief about their choice of accommodation. That seemed to us to be where this started and ended. I should mention that, in general, the hotel staff were polite and helpful so I would exclude that team from any negativity in this review.
Well-spaced casual seating across the ground floor, together with a small bar area, make it a convivial place to relax and unwind after a long day in the park.
a buffet-style restaurant was the hotel's sole offering for dinner in the evening which was a respectable choice of generally good foods and plenty of healthy options to enjoy. It's not standout but it suffices and the service we experienced was pretty good, with one member of the waiting staff, Dhevendra, being outstanding.
Our 4th floor family room was plenty big enough and pretty comfy. Everything one would expect from the category but no more. A lack of English Breakfast Tea, milk (even UHT) and decent coffee was disappointing though. There is little else to say about our accommodation - in short, it was fine.
The pool area is small but fun little children with a very small slide to give a little something to play on. The games room had a selection of 5 or 6 interactive (paid) electronic games, inc. boxing, table hockey, basketball shooting etc. Fine but nothing amazing and a very small and soulless room.
One of the biggest disappointments was the inclusive breakfast experience. Whilst we chose a busy time, it was very disappointing to have to wait for over 20 minutes for a table. Staff were highly disorganised, coffee machines were left empty, several food options had ran out and not been replaced. I even had to ask two separate members of staff for butter.
When I attempted to purchase drinks from the hotel bar (after a 15 minute wait), the card machine had broken and I was told that the only option was to pay by cash. Rather than offer me temporary credit until the machine had been fixed, I was told to walk to a nearby hotel to use its cash machine. In my opinion this was shameful. Could I not be trusted to pay for a small round of drinks (3 drinks plus one bag of crisps) once the machine had been repaired about an hour later as the staff expected it would be? Evidently not!
On our last day, I accidentally left a small part of my power adaptor in a socket in reception. I called the hotel from Charles de Gaulle Airport when I realised. A member of the reception team kindly found it for me and passed it to the housekeeping team. On contacting that team I was told it would cost €23 to send to me. This seemed overly expensive but also somewhat unfair. Despite asking for a show of good will, the hotel was not prepared to move position and reiterated that this was the standard cost of the courier's charge. Rightly or wrongly, it was just another experience which left us feeling far from being valued guests.
We regret our choice of hotel and would not return. If you are looking for a pretty clean, practical and well-positioned hotel for visiting Disneyland then it's maybe not the worst choice you could make by comparison to the look of some others but, to us, it fell way short of what we are used to and expect for a so...
Read moreThere are many poor reviews for this hotel so I wanted to provide an honest and detailed review so you can decide (hence title) if this is for you. I have stayed at every Disney hotel (including what used to be the partner hotels) and have stayed at Dream Castle many times since it was built just over 20 years ago. Hopefully what I have to say will be measured and fair. |Dream Castle is (usually) a cheaper way of staying closer to the Disney magic if the Disney Hotels are out of budget. My review will give the ‘good, bad and ugly’ side of things. Hopefully ‘management’ will read this and change the bad - the ugly is outside of the control of the hotel. ||The good…|Every visit has felt safe. |Every visit I always encountered polite and happy staff.|The breakfast can be busy but providing a clean table for the party has always been efficient. The quality of food is better than Santa Fe, is fresh and regularly replenished. There are lots of choices. However, they should return the small cubed potatoes; cook rather than cremate the bacon; provide oat and soya milk alternatives and improve the quality of the fruit juices which tasted too syrupy. |The evening buffet option gives quality dishes, some equal to Disneyland Hotel Royal Banquet. It is very good value for money with a really peaceful atmosphere. |The Astrolabe bar is a great place for snacks and drinks with cosy nooks and crannies to sit inside and out. |The options of the inside and outside pools, as well as the spa is great - just read up on closing times beforehand and you won’t be disappointed. |The grounds a great for an evening bimble. |The rooms are more than adequate and very quiet.||The bad…|Whilst every business has to make economies and therefore choices, I do not appreciate this in the form of disguised virtue signaling. Turning off the AC when the weather is warm might promote green credentials but it drives me, the paying guest away. I should not have to go all Victor Meldrew to get it turned back on!|When you extend a checkout time, please communicate to the housekeeping staff. I do not appreciate continual knocks on the door to see if I have left. |When the hotel first opened, the default toiletries was an extensive L’Occitane range, individual products replenished daily. Now it is a pump dispenser of some cheap hair and body soap. Come on Dream Castle, provide some conditioner and body cream at least!||The ugly…|This is outside the control of the hotel but the shuttle bus is an absolute nightmare. They serve 6 hotels and seemed to turn up once an hour during the early afternoon. If this is when you are arriving, prepare for a looooong wait! Über is about €14 so this may be a better option. If the weather is good and you have the stamina, walking via Santa Fe and alongside the ‘river’ to Disney Village is an option. ||Dream Castle is a good option with or without children of all ages. Close enough to the Disney Magic but you can factor in how many park days to budget for, trips to Paris or La Vallée shopping outlet (who doesn’t love €1000 off a Gucci bag)!||As for ourselves, we will not be returning - too old to do the twice daily battle with the shuttle bus and too Victor Meldrew to accept not having AC on demand and hair conditioner for my receding locks. ||As for you, please make an informed choice and you will not be...
