I stayed at the Hotel Askania in June and had a wonderful time. I arrived to meet the hotel owner, Herr Koenig, who couldn't find my reservation. It turned out that for some reason the Booking.Com reservation system request the reservation for April of 2012! It was a busy summer holiday weekend but Herr Koenig was able to get me into a single room with a wonderful balcony and view of the lake and saved my weekend!||||The hotel is located several hundred meters from the Tegernsee lake and similar distance from the town center of Bad Wiessee where many restaurants can be located. The hotel does serve a fixed course dinner as well so check the menu board if you don't feel like going out.||||Location is close to hiking, boat rides on the lake, boat rentals, bike trails, etc.||||Rooms are unremarkable but clean. Herr Koenig is a fancier of Scotch whiskey as evidenced by the selection in the bar in the sitting parlor.||||All in all a very pleasant stay even after my initial mistake of wrong dates...

The room (room no. 18 on the 2nd floor) was quite large, old-style and quite charming in character. The bathroom was nothing special but OK.||||The lift is old and fairly noisy and we could hear it from our room because it was quite close to the lift. It didn't bother us too much, but for some this might be bothersome.||||Breakfast was fine, but we had dinner on one of the nights (we stayed for two nights) and it was not great. We know that German cuisine is not exactly renowned for its sophistication but to serve frozen vegetables and carrots from a glass jar in the month of July … that is hard to understand.||||Other than that, we had no complaints. The staff was friendly and we had a pleasant...
