Overall a not that disappointed impression, but some minor drawbacks prevents me to give a very good note.||||First the context : Cochem is a small medieval village - that means few buildings, and mostly very old ones (according to the town infrastructure)-, but very popular on the high season / summer. That means there is not much choice on the hotels, and high prices considering an average quality standard. ||Furthermore, half of the establishments are pension/B&B, hold by couple/family, as there is almost no business at all half of year (in the low season).||So, most of the hotels are not refurbished since a long time ago, as the people coming there are not looking for fancy/super-modern architecture/design hotel.||||Hotel Lohspeicher : ||The hotel is very very central. 5 meters from the cute main place of the medieval village. That said, the village is pretty small, and if you are spending one night here, you can visite the whole place (including the castle on the hill) in 3 hours maximum, wherever you are sleeping. ||||Moreover, the hotel is located in a little alley, a bit steepy, and paved. You cannot park next to hit, and if you are old, very fragile or disabled, it will be best to avoid it especially in winter / rainy days. But it is not everest ascencion, and for us it was one of the point that makes us come here, because it was indeed very authentic and charming ;-)||||The good part is : no cars ! Very calm and quiet, even if it's the city center.||Yes, there are loud bells singing every hour on the day (it has its charm), but it stop at 9pm, and start at 8am - so you will sleep peacefully.||||From what I understood, the husband is a (well-known in Germany) chef, so the couple cannot stay 24hours a day at the reception waiting for guest's arrival. So upon your arrival, depending on the hour you arrive, you may have to call them (the phone number is on the front door). They will open you the front door from distance. Your key card will be on the desk, and your room waiting for you on the upper floor :)||And good point : there is an elevator ! So no steepy medieval staircase as I feared.||||We took a Comfort room (category above the standard), and it was worth it. The room was a good size, luminous, warmhearted and with charming ceiling beam. ||I liked the bed : It was separated, soft, mattresses (my husband prefers hard ones though). ||The draw back is that there were no shutter and the blackout curtain does not cover the whole window. You will be wake-up by the rays of the rising sun.||||A big plus (considering the local competition) : the bathroom was brand new and modern. Sufficient space in it to be at ease for one (but not 2) person.||The draw back was that the floor tiles was so freezing, we could not put a foot on the floor : I first thought my feet skin will be bonded and torn when I stepped in. A disadvantage of old buildings isolation I guess :-/||||Bathroom products : A scented incense solid soap, shower gel, and a body lotion sample will be provided. (Foresee to take your own shampoo and conditioner).||||The breakfast was enough furbished and with good fresh products (try the apricot jam). Also fresh eggs will be cooked for you at your request.||||Last but not least, a little present will be offered at your departure.||The big problem for us that we were not allowed to leave our suitcase in the hotel after the checkout (Which have to be before 10am). There are few lockers in the city center, next to the tourism office, but it have not enough place in each unit for more than a small backpack. We barely could not fit in our small cabin luggage :( So it could be a problem if you wish to finish your visit of Cochem on that day...||||Finally, the owner couple is nice and helping. They answered to all our requests by email before arrival, and recommended us a nice...

Read moreStayed for one night only but i would recommend this hotel right in the centre of Cochem.|The self check in was very easy, on arrival to our room we were struck by how large and wonderful it looked with nice wooden beams and big bed, sadly the lights didn’t work but the hotel owners quickly moved us to another room which was not as beautiful and slightly smaller but it did however have a fantastic view of the castle so no complaints from us we were happy.|Loved the small little soaps on the granite really nice touch and the breakfast for 10 euros was well worth it.|Everything was great from staff to the comfort of the beds, only one criticism would be the 10am check out, a little bit early if you want to have a relaxing lie in and still make breakfast but as breakfast was 8-10 made the morning was a bit of a rush, but because of everything else this would not put me of returning, really great little hotel i look forward to returning...
