Hotel Landhaus Knappmann — Hotel in Essen

Based on the reviews that I read, I had high hopes for this place, and it exceeded my expectations. The staff and maintenance of the hotel are exceptional. The photos online do not do it justice. I loved the small details like fresh flowers and candles on the table at the restaurant and in the breakfast rooms. It was evident that attention to detail is paid in the upkeep of the hotel. ||||I felt so welcome upon arriving, "welcome" drink and chocolate, yes please. I don't speak German and they made sure to send a server my way during the two nights that I ate dinner in the restaurant. ||||The food was fabulous. I loved the ambiance of their restaurant. Breakfast was great. ||||The location is about a ten minute walk from the heart of Kettwig. It is less than a five minute walk from an Aldi and Lidl. I went for a run each morning in the countryside towards the village of Mintard.||||I stayed for two nights after being in Cologne for business. My family and I had an overnight stay here during a road trip. Although in a quiet location, the Hotel is well sited for easy motorway access. The hotel is an attractive building, boasting a car park and beer garden.

Our stay was very comfortable, in a spacious and well-appointed room which was ideal for our family (2 adults and 2 small kids).

The staff were excellent - very efficient, kind and helpful. On site parking was convenient and on arrival we were greeted warmly with a free drink and some chocolate for the kids. A great start!

We dined in the restaurant which was very good. In the morning, enjoyed a very impressive breakfast which offered a large choice.

What a find. We pulled into the parking lot in our trusty van and before we could get our luggage our host Juergen, was at hand with two craft beers and a bar of chocolate. The hotel has been in the family for 99 years and it shows. Our room was spacious and well appointed. All rooms seem different and have lots of charm. The bedding was excellent.||Bathroom was also good with an excellent shower.||Dinner was in the warm and friendly Keller like restaurant, full of locals too.
