The hotel is an older alpine lodge type place. Reception is of the more traditional kind, a large desk, all kinds of things behind the desk, ask for something they probably have it back there. Even the keys on the huge fobs that you have to hand in each time as you leave. ||Check in was efficient, and we were shown to our rooms, at the other end checkout was also efficient. English is well spoken here and staff are pleasant and understanding. ||Rooms: the rooms were large, well lit and reasonably furnished, if somewhat shabbily. There was a bed, chair, desk, plenty of drawers and hangers, mirror, fridge, tv, and a couple of the rooms had balconies. The rooms had safes but 2 did not work, so beware and check first before you deposit anything in them. Carpet in all the rooms needs replacing. This was probably the main reason for the shabby look. Otherwise bed was comfortable, nice windows that worked well. No tea or coffee making facilities, some was occasionally available in the lounge downstairs. You got a free bottle of fizzy water on arrival, but this was removed if you did not drink it all the first night. The fridge was stocked with mini bar items Wifi was good, plenty of electric points for charging although some in awkward places. ||Bathrooms were all fairly recently renovated and modern. Walk in shower was standard, large sink areas, hairdryer, makeup and standard mirror. Everything here looked smart and updated. ||We had breakfast here every morning, it was nice, the attending staff were very nice and there was a good variety of continental items: cereal, breads, pastries, cheese and cold meats, plus scrambled and hard boiled eggs and some kind of sausage, fruits and yoghurts. Otherwise there is a very nice cafe just next door ( in the direction of the town hall square) , they do nice lunch and breakfast. ||Parking: there is a smallish underground parking garage, just to the side of the hotel, you have to be buzzed it, and it is an interesting adventure finding your way through the hotel form this garage!||There is a bar open in the evening ( did not use) a pool area ( also did not use) and the lounge is a nice place to relax in, there is a coffee machine here that is free. ||Lots of restaurants in the area, the train station is close and shops are a short walk. ||Overall a pleasant stay, would stay again but would hope the...
Read moreStayed here as part of a group tour going to the Oberammergau passion play. The hotel is about a half hour drive from Oberammergau itself. ||||The hotel at first seemed quite old fashioned with lots of wood and patterned carpets and a very rickety single lift. However the hotel is actually a very nice mix of old and modern. With a very nice seating area in the reception area and a nice bar area. ||||Our room was on the 2nd floor, we did manage to squeeze 3 people into the tiny rickety lift, but it wasn’t easy. The only plus was at least the lift was fast. ||||The room was nice with a separate seating area, the beds initially seemed soft, but actually were comfortable, the storage was good and there was a decent flat screen TV. There was also a safe, which I couldn’t initially get to work as there were no instructions, however I asked at reception for help and they sent housekeeping very quickly to show me how it worked. They also sent someone to change the pillows which were far too soft. ||||The bathroom/shower room was very nice, obviously recently upgraded, it was very clean and modern with nice toiletries and bathrobes were included. ||||We had a very nice balcony which would be nice to sit out on, unfortunately we had no time (or energy) to do this. ||||The restaurant is on the ground floor, with a nice selection on the menu which we enjoyed. The staff were lovely very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in the conservatory area, which was frankly cold as breakfast was early and the windows were open as was the door. Breakfast was continental with some hot food, scrambled egg and one other hot side. ||||The reason I’ve given 4 stars instead of 5 is there was no air conditioning in our room, the room was very hot, we left the window open of course, but that just let more hot air in, also the lift really was poor and breakfast was really quite chilly with windows and door open in the...
Read moreI wish I could give this hotel zero stars. As a frequent traveler, this was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had.
I booked a Junior Suite for 3 nights based on more than 10 photos shown on Booking.com. However, upon arrival I was given a completely different (and much worse) room. When I pointed this out, showing the listing photos, the manager dismissively claimed those pictures belonged to a “different category.” After I insisted, he began raising his voice at me — unprofessional and extremely rude behavior for someone in hospitality.
Only after further pushing did they switch me to the correct room type, but instead of offering an apology or consideration, they deliberately placed us in a far corner room. I overheard the manager instruct staff to give me a “smaller room.” This was not only dishonest but also inconsiderate, as I was traveling with my mother (who has back issues) and my one-year-old daughter. The location of the room meant unnecessary walking up and down stairs just to reach reception.
When I asked to cancel the stay, I was told I could leave but would not receive any refund. Even when I requested to stay just one night (despite my negative experience) and cancel the remaining two nights — which included my birthday — they flatly refused.
The lack of empathy, the disrespectful treatment, and the deceptive room advertising made this stay absolutely miserable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families or those seeking a welcoming environment. Guests deserve honesty, professionalism, and respect — none of which I...
